Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sega talks Shenmue III

Shenmue3 would easily cost ATLEAST $20million+ to develop.. actually probably a lot more..

The previous games sold alright- considering how small the DC base was.. they still sold a million units each if i remember.. which wasnt too bad.

Yakuza is cooler but Shenmue is epic. They'll need yu suzuki back though for anything of the sort...

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

I like Yakuza, but it doesn't hold a candle to Shenmue.

Looking forward to: FF Versus XIII / LBP2 / The Last Guardian / Yakuza 4 / ICO Collection

Yakuza is getting better than shenmue after every new part people who say Shenmue is better are just having a nostalgic feelings.

Just my opinion, anyway.

=p

lol...develiping this game for the 360 would be commercial suicide in Japan.

But if MS pays for it...go for it sega.

These statements are likely fan service. I have a hard time believing the suits at Sega have any desire to return to this series. Yu Suzuki has even been minimized so much that nobody knows where he is.

Shenmue III would have to be a huge investment in money and development resources. It would take a staff similar to a Mass Effect game with a creative vision that is consistent with the series but progressive enough to fit today's market. If you look at Sega's track record this gen, they are simply NOT that publisher.

As a big fan of the series (ESPECIALLY the 2nd game), I really really reeeeeeeeallyreallyreally want to see III, but I'm also informed enough to know the chances are as slim as Panzer Dragoon Saga Returns . . .

They should try to release Shenmue I and II on XBL and PSN.
Too many people never played those games. It's sad.

I beat Shenmue II three times and the 1st two times and I seldom beat a game more than once.

They had an incredible atmosphere.

Never saw anything like that again.

This reminds me that I'm still to buy a Dreamcast and those 2 awesome games.

I got so excited reading this. IMO Shenmue is possibly the greatest game I have ever played. I remember buying SHenmue on release day on the DC; I spent 2days playing it non stop cuz i just couldnt put the pad down. The story, characters, puzzles, training and everything was just mind blowingly amazing.

Then Sega made part 2 and the 3rd disc ended up with all that mystical stuff and I was totally blown away. I would have never imagined shit like that would have happened in Shenmue and since that day it all went down hill. Sega has cast the greatest game they ever made aside.

They should bring out a Shenmue collection if they plan on making Shenmue 3. Yakuza is brilliant but something about Shenmue, it's story and the realistic fantasy aspect to it just edges out in front of Yakuza.

If Sega make Shenmue 3, I will definitely buy it. In fact I would pre-order it today if I could!
