They'd be buying more negative viral marketers.
maybe it was a waste of time, but as everyone some people have said it was a loan, they didn't just give them the money. GTA4 failed as a system seller, and as far as i can tell the DLC didn't help the sales of the 360 version almost at all. So they probably got most or all of their money back but it was just a waste of time and wasn't worth the investment.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
IMO i think if MS didn't pay R*, i don't think they would even make the two extra episodes
no idea how to make this properly work
gamings_best said: on timed exclusives, do you think they could pump out some awesome new ip's????? 50 million dollars....................10 million less then gt5's total development cost imo, for something coming to there compition for free, and they also get a new ip.............. any thoughts, oh and if this is indication of anything I'd soooo put my money on a ps3 mass effect |
Sony didn't get Agent because MS paid Rockstar.Agent was on PS3 even if MS didn't pay anything for it.It was one of three games Rockstar promised for PS3 in return of GTA4 exclusivity
starcraft
Everyone and their brother says it was a loan yet no one comes up with hard proof about what that money really was. If you know of any, could you please supply?
assumption is the mother of all f**k ups
Of course it was worth it.
The game sold well and the promise of exclusive DLC sold tons of consoles.
Heck, without GTA 360 and DLC, the PS3 would probably have skyrocketted in 2008 (GTA then MGS, both rated 10 by reviewers....)

axumblade said: In all honesty, the exclusivity was more based on selling xbox 360's then selling the game itself. The promise of DLC did push some decent hardware due to it being exclusive to the 360. While I'm not sure if Microsoft knew at the time that Sony were so willing to pick up the DLC once the contract expired, I do know that Microsoft knew they were signing timed exclusive instead of a fullscale exclusive. Microsoft hit Sony where it hurt with the lack of exclusivity. They successfully took a franchise that was synonymous with the Playstation Brand and made it more successful on the 360. ... |
Bull's-eye.

Except it didn't. When GTA released we didn't see a large increase in either of the HD consoles. To be honest even if it had remained exclusive I doubt it would have pushed many PS3s. It sold to the core that had for the most part already bought their console of choice. The casuals that bought it on PS2 wouldn't and didn't buy consoles.
