it is still in the workss headed by j allard if you remember him from e3 05 introducing the xbox 360 http://gizmodo.com/5365299/courier-first-details-of-microsofts-secret-tablet

I've been waiting for this every since it was announced. It's my Day one buy :)

Though on a side note... if this does not get an official release sometime soon, I may end up having to buy the ipad for business purposes...

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Now... that is something I could use.

Anybody else interested in this. I really think this is a great device, and every time i see iPad i just wish the Courier would get here sooner. Or at another device just like it.

can one screen turn into a keyboard?

I mean I see limited use for it besides an expensive notepad... if it has a keyboard however, it's a real notebook.

It does look pretty sweet, but just like that iPad it depends on pricing and Apps.

From what I read, it will not run windows apps. Previous Windows tablets failed because most of the applications were just windows apps, and were not customized for the tablet.

It think the key to success for Courier is price. It needs to be priced similar to netbook/iPad pricing. ($300-$600)

I am definitely interested in getting the courier, but I was hoping they would have more details on it by now... like a release date. I love the idea of the dual screen setup where you can close it like a book. MSI is creating something similar, but i'll have to wait and see which one is better. I must admit, I was completely underwhelmed by the iPad as buying a tablet which doesn't multitask seems a bit pointless.

The thing they do it use the pin to write, so you can write in web addresses and go there without having to bring up a virtual keyboard to type. So i like that better and i don't want a keyboard. But the still may have one latter. This is a prototype.

I want it too, which I do believe is the first time for a MS product.  The thing is, everything they do someone else does better given a little time.  By the time I'm confident that the hardware isn't going to crap out after a year and that software support will be there, there WILL be a serious competitor and it might even be a second generation iPad.  MS practically can't win on this one (which is good for the market AND the consumer), but it'll be an interesting development to watch unfold if they do.

How many 10" virtual keyboards have you used? Just curious.

I love the mail cient, calendar, photo browsing and book store apps on the iPad. It's the integration of SW and HW that wins people over to Apple. Review sites always review one or the other, then complan that neither is as good as the best competitor. ie the iPad HW isn't as good as Lenovo tablet. Lenovo CPU is 2x faster! ipad sux!  And the ipad sw isn't as good as Toshiba's, Toshiba has pen input! Ipad sux! . But you can't run Toshiba's SW on the lenovo HW, so both comparisons miss the true feature of all apple products - the integration of SW and HW.

Courier will be 8lbs, $2000, slow as molasses and two years too late.

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

I thought everyone forgot about the Courier once the iPad was announced. I actually want the Courier and I'm willing to wait. The accuracy of a stylus always trumps the finger, plus Apple is going to have a new iPad maybe 8 months after launch.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
