Disney should have lost control over Mickey Mouse a long time ago

Their explosive expansion of copyright law has pissed me off so badly every time I think about it

Pokémon can't do racing games (even Bowser's Inside Story is a better RPG than Pokémon now).

Mario only does everything.

I don't think Nintendo has a Mascot anymore. None of the systems do. That's why there isn't any mention of him in Wii Sports at all, not even a picture. But lets say i'm wrong, if nintendo was to change their mascot to lets say Pikmin what exactly would be changing?

The reason Mario has remained so long is because you can almost always expect a quality game (a few exceptions). He is also appealing to kids and adults. It is a win-win situation. I do think Nintendo needs some new ips though. Project Hammer and US version of Disaster day of crisis, where art thou.

aww.. but i don't mind Mario as Nintendo's mascot
it's he's who most of us grew up with
  for the most part for the majority of us, mario will always be remembered and could never be replaced regardless of what we all actually feel; in my honest opinion Mario's what helped propeled gaming to what it is now

but most importantly, i believe Nintendo should actually use it's other most prominent figures that represents other aspect of gaming:

Zelda: for the core gamers, and
Metroid: for the hardcore gamers

hell, they should use all other characters they have..
