Which franchise will/would die first?

I do not think any of these franchises will end. Just look at Call of Duty as an example. World War II shooters were dying last gen. But Call of Duty Modern Warfare came and reinvigorated the series. This can happen with any of the franchises that were listed in the Thread Author's post.

Metroid has never been a mega selling franchise and it's been on every Nintendo platform except the N64 and the Gameboy Color. Therefore there is no reason to think that the next gen Nintendo platforms will be without an iteration of the Metroid Franchise.

Metal Gear will endure as well and has been around for a while.

Im saying Metal Gear as well I think once Kojima is off the game, Konami will continue the brand, but it will dwindle off without Koji at the helm.



Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Halo will die before any of those games on that list imo.....but I'd say Metal Gear sadly....

Metal Gear will probably die first. I think Kojima wants to move on at some point.

Marios, Final Fantasies, Zeldas, and Pokemanz aren't really related so they can and will go on forever.

The only ones with connected narratives that can actually end are Metroid and Metal Gear.

And out of those two, Metal Gear is the franchise that has its protagonist really old, and Kojima has said that he will no longer be the protagonist in any more canonical games. So Metal Gear is left with prequels and spin-offs, but it will probably still be around for a couple more games.

I voted Metriod. Not as popular as Mario, Zelda and Pokemon. Why the hell is Metal Gear even on that poll anyway?

Mario/Zelda will never die as long as Nintendo exists. Even if Shiggy does............They also stated Pokemon will go on FOREVER. So expect over a thousand Pokemon in the years to come......Metroid is just getting another fresh start with Other M, and when is Final Fantasy ever "Final"? I believe It sells just as much or more than Zelda.......After MGS4, I felt the series was coming to an end, especially with all the rumors saying it was the last true MGS game. Of course FF just recently had the same announcement.......but I believe it's "spinoffs" will last much longer than MGS's. and that is my OPINION, on this topic.

I'm interested, why would you *want* Metroid to die? Actually why would anybody *want* any game to die? Too much emotion into a video game series in my opinion.

Sorry about that. I just realised that the "and I want it to die" was supposed to be written for a different message on another site. If you look in my games collection, I've never owned a single Metriod game and it would be unfair for me to wish that a game series would die if I've never played a game that belongs to that series. Please understand that that was pure coincidence and don't think that I take too much emotion into a specifc gaming series.

No problem. It is more than likely a typo/mistake. But that question goes for everybody, as I've seen some other posts like that in this thread and others. Your's just looked like the most recent, so I chose that one to quote, plus my connection to the Metroid series.
