Currently has around 97% score on metacritic based on 30 reviews or so. That is higher then Uncharted 2.

Obviously that score will probably come down a bit to maybe a 95. Which on ze list of all time scores puts it ahead of games like Gears of War, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, All of the Call of Duties, Fallout 3 etc etc. In fact only 2 games would sit above it. GTA4 and HL2.

A lot of those games have won Game of the year awards.

So do people think it is possible ME2 could win GOTY 2010?

It couldbe, but I'd bet on GoW III. Maybe SMG2 and Bioshock 2 are contenders too, who knows.

Edit - and Zelda Wii. That's an auto-goty for IGN and many Nintendo websites.

Gran Turismo, Halo and FF... no way to even contend. Too much hate.

Yeah, I'd say we wait for around... 11 more months before we start talking about GOTY contenders.

Nevertheless, Mass Effect 2 is turning out to be a critical darling... so it's definitely starting out very strong. For now, let's see how the consumers respond to the game. I sense it'll be pretty darn successful.

It could. But most GOTY awards will go to the PC this year I think.

I do not care if Mass Effect 2 ends up with GOTY for 2010 but it will definitely be in the top 5 games for 2010. I care more about it being a console seller. Uncharted 2 was a sequel and a console seller for PS3. Uncharted and Mass Effect were both released in 2007. If any sequel has a chance of being a console seller well Mass Effect 2 could well be the game.

Mass Effect 2 could push 360 system sales- hopefully. But I have a bad feeling it will not push many systems. But a small boost is good IMO.

It's definately a GOTY contender for me, just few more days till I get my Collector's Edition.

I hate this GOTY, review, metacritic stuff. "My game is better than yours, because it is 1 point higher on meta"... so stupid.

Just enjoy the game, it certainly looks great.

Metacritic score means nothing. Demon's Souls has an 89 and it got GOTY at Gamespot
