You can't browse by category on WiiWare? I was under the impression you could... or is that just the VC? Can't imagine.

As for the batteries, you can get a docking station for your remotes, which includes rechargeable built-in batteries, for under 10 bucks. you can find 'em both on and offline. There's dozens of different ones available. Seriously, get one, it's the 1st thing I bought for my Wii and really, really saves a lot of time, effort and money.

Can't go wrong with MP Trilogy, really, so good choice. Also, GET OKAMI!

I didn't visit VC, so I can't comment on that, but I'm pretty sure the only options for WW are 'Most Popular' and 'Most Recent', other than 'Search by *publisher, genre, etc.*'

And I'll get on the lookout for a dockingstation, thanks for the advice

And I'm getting Okami!

@ haxxiy

Indeed it was, though saying that Wii Sports set my expectations low might be an understatement. For me, in terms of bar-raising, Wii Sports is a hole in the ground

Okay, well you could be right, I've only visited WW a few times, and it's been a while, so.

And good! You should really get both. There are even new types of those docking stations that are suitable for Motion Plus, so you won't have to remove that add-on every time you want to recharge. Which is win. And Okami's just glorious, so +1 for you.

Cool, that'll make daily use more comfortable

Trying to go online and shop is a small pain in the ass though. There is no basic overview of the content. Why do I have to use the search options in order to get an overview of all games on the WiiWare? Why can't I just browse by a category?

You can.

After you select WiiWare, a screen pops up that you can look at popular titles, new releases, search by publisher, search by genre, or search by title.  It is pretty much the same with the Virtual Console.  It is impossible to miss.

That's what I was referring to. I didn't search for anything, but I think it would be a lot easier to get a good look at the content if you could see games by letter or by genre.

Like, have a list of genres and pick the one you want.

Or is that already the way it is, and my idea of 'searching' for something is just way off compared to Nintendo's?

It won't let you search by letter.

There is an option to search by genre.  Select that, and a whole list of genre's pop up.  Select one of those, and it takes you to all the games in that genre.

If you go to new releases, it actually has every game listed in the order they were released.

Oh, I see. I just need to be in less of a rush when getting it online then

Yes, NiMH rechargeable batteries are a must for Wii gaming. I actually slightly prefer them to the built-in batteries on the Dual Shock 3 because you can just swap them out if they get run down, rather than trying to play with that dorky little USB cable plugged in. It's a rare issue for the PS3 controller to get completely drained if you plug it in whenever not in use, but it does happen, and it's annoying when it does. Maybe that's Sony's way of telling you to take a break already.

You can try one of those 3rd party charge packs if you like, but I find brand-name rechargeable AA cells more trustworthy.

You're absolutely right about the shopping channel needing an overhaul. It's clumsy to navigate, and the progress bar was cute the first time, but desperately needs to be muted every time I've used it after that.

I actually prefer the Wii's channel-based interface, but I can see how some people might find it annoying to navigate.

MPT is a great choice and an incredible value. I also consider Mario Kart Wii an essential game. Of course, you don't need to buy and play all the great Wii games at once.

Well, I solve the issue by setting the dead controller up for charging and using my other controller instead

Thank you!

Each to his own I guess. My PS3 is filled 'Albums' as Sony calls them, I would probably consider it pure chaos if I couldn't arrange them like that. We'll see how the Wii interface grows on me.

I'll get around to it, but right now, my budget is a little tight so I figured getting three games at the price of one couldn't be a bad idea

@ Nintendogamer

Lol, sorry. It was never meant as an insult to the game, darth just gave me a great setup for a 'Your mom'-joke
