Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EA should port Extraction to the HD system when the motion controls launch.

No, we cannot port games to other consoles where they will fail even harder, and thus prove people wrong. As can be seen by reading some responses...

they would have to not market it just like on Wii.

It was worth porting Chinatown Wars to PSP for Rockstar. That may have been to test whether it was the userbase or the game, or they may have genuinely thought it would sell better on PSP.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I'd buy it, and I reckon it'd outsell the Wii version if they could get the NATAL version out for the launch of the thing. PS360 sales combined would easily do so - only issue of course is a Wii port wouldn't look too stunning, and they risk then devaluing the Dead Space franchise.

There will undoubtedly be rails shooters on the PS3 and 360 though - I doubt the PS3 will compete with the Wii sales as Arc doesn't take me being important enough to gain that much marketshare. The NATAL iterations however could well be interesting.

port an SD game to the HD twins, yeah it's set to fail.

If there going to port it, they need to be on par graphically with other games, more so since it's just a light gun shooter which in essence is a controlled environment thus allowing graphics to be further pushed...at this stage however they may as well make Extraction 2 for the HD twins, and then use the same engine for extraction 1 and bundle them together or something, then it'll have a better chance for success.

Again, I didn't mean "port" in the thread title, but I ran out of space. If course this would need to be a remake, so being a late port would be out of the equation.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

so it shows ea it wasn't wii's fault?

and the game didn't flop, the legs are impressive

"and the game didn't flop, the legs are impressive"

Oh. My bad for not checking up on it. It's sold 210K already. Then again, Madworld and Conduit opened low, but have sales about 400K, and people still think they flopped.

I'm not calling this game a flop anymore, just that it had a really poor opening, and that people are still quick to judge Wii sales out of the gate, not long term. Look at how little recognition Mario Kart Wii gets for outselling GTA IV (both systems combined, and in every region now).

So it makes it clear the Wii didn't kill this game. The game just is niche, like every other "test" game that publishers boneheadedly think is more than niche (or know they are and are using this as an excuse not to support the Wii).

You always make it sound like Wii developement is as cheap as making NES games......

Totally ignore the fact that The Conduit, Madworld and Dead Space got a price cut like 5 weeks after release (in Europe often after 3 weeks). Next time I see a new multiplat HD game reaching 500k on each PS3 and 360, I'll claim a HUGE success, like you always do....
