Forums - Microsoft - Top 10 Reasons why the XBOX 360 is Very Successful

The PS1 only missed one holiday season outside of Japan, but unlike the PS3 it was already a low spec gaming console to begin with. The 360 for example had 2 extra holiday season in PAL regions and a bigger headstart in various other regions.

I think it's won't be strange if the PS3 stays ahead of PS1 tracking by the end of 2010 as well.

What?  The PS1 missed a holiday season for the entire world outside of Japan.  The PS3 missed one holiday season in Europe alone.  The 360 has nothing to do with PS1/PS3 comparisons, so that's a bad example.  It's like no matter what you write, it has to revolve around your PS3 is better than all mentality.  Try to be unbiased Mike.

And no, the PS3 will not sell 20 million consoles this year to keep up with the PS1 even by your very misleading argument.

from the hardware and performance perspective..360 has not proved as successful as PS3's. Well Games like MGS4 and UC2 are not possible on the platform. Well FFXIII fortunately found it's way on the console despite it's h/W limitations. Square Enix was kind enuf to turn the favor to M$.

What makes MGS4 and UC2 impossible for the 360?  I own both, and they are great games, but they aren't a generation ahead of games already available (and coming soon) on the 360.  Both consoles are very comparable.  And with the 360 being older technology and keeping pace with the PS3 technically, either the 360's performance is a success or the PS3's performance is a failure............

not possible in the sense that the media content for these particular games way surpass the storage limit of xbox dvd..as obvious as it is...and where data compression can't be doing any good as u think it can be..And for some mutiplatform games either of them were bogged down in certain areas.

Well for MGS4 I'm sure it wouldn't be hard.  Rather than having to wait 3-5 minutes every act while you wait on the next to install for the PS3 version, you would just swap a disc.  I'm sure compression would have no trouble getting it down to 1 act per disc.  UC2 would be a bit different, but since they are both linear games it would only be the minor inconvenience of swapping discs every now and then.

Microsoft hit a milestone in Japan.....what are you talking about? Second of all Microsoft didn't expect to have sold what they did this gen. I would love to have what you're smoking. Bias is a hell of a thing.

Wiki isn't updated, but that is beside the point. It is successful, it will finish the gen with a profit. And its software sales are good as well. The PS3 isn't successful, and this is coming from a PS3/Sony fanboy. The launch was awful and the PS3 has posted disappointing software sales, although I think that will change due to the PS3 redesign.

    Human contact, the final frontier.

Din know it was very successful :/. Whats the wii then?

Like the Gameboy despite the low specs I think it's an outstanding success for Nintendo. If I had kids I would most likely also have bought them a Wii.

But I don't think a PS2.5 would have fitted Sony's long term perspective aims as a consumer electronics company (nor would have been in my personal interest). So personally I am happy there's both the Wii (&PS2) and PS3 available on the market at this point. There isn't much overlap in terms of strongpoints, although I do hope Nintendo will soon come out with a new more capable and Wii compatible console.

Can you fit any more stealth trolling of the Wii in that post, MikeB?

    Hello nightsurge.

Why do you hate MikeB so much? Would you be happy if he was banned/dead ?

Why do you care?   MikeB is always stealth trolling anything other than the PS3.

They still would've been successful anyway if they didn't cut and run the original xbox and rush the xbox 360.

Thank you slowmo.  Unfortunately PS3 fans as well as some others just don't see enough of his posts to notice just how bad it gets.  They think we are all on some witch hunt when we aren't.  We just would appreciate it if he'd stop.

I have nothing against MikeB personally, so its funny that people outside of the situation always try to say that one hates another   He just needs to shape up his act... luckily for him the mods never seem to pin him on any of it since he puts it so subtly.
