Galaxy. I hate people.
From the little I've played of Mario Wii, I think it's flat out better than Mario Galaxy.
Neither of them, however, can compare to Sunshine or 64.

Galaxy by far. Ive played too much of the old 2D Mario's to not see NSMBW as a cash in (sorry but imo thats what it was).
Although strangely i loved the 2D sections, or atleast the way it contrasted with 3D, much more in Galaxy. Maybe it was the unexpected gravity thing that did it.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
Super Mario Galaxy.
The opposite of what a lot of people are saying about the games are applying to me. One play through of NSMBWii, and it sits on my shelf unless friends come over. Galaxy has such a vast world and a much deeper play experience. My jaw has only dropped for Mario Galaxy - except Mario Kart, but that was when I was blue shelled two inches from the finish and took fifth.
Galaxy is like going to see the LoTR trilogy on your own.
NSMBWii is like going to see a great stand up comic with 3 friends.
The comedian doesn't have special effects, orchestrated soundtrack and isn't that great of an actor but it's still ten times more FUN than watching an 'epic movie'.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!
It's a tough choice.
If you look at it technically, you can't deny that SMG is the better game, but I had so much fun with NSMBWii as i'm a huge 2D platformers fan, and most of my time on NSMBWii was playing it in SP.
So I have to say NSMBWii
Current PC Build

Lets just say I played Galaxy constantly till I finished it 100%...twice...
NSMB wii am still wading thru, I just play every now and then and even if I finish it, I doubt I'll ever finish it 100%...
Not that I'm picking sides though...both good games!
(and to it's credit nsmbwii is harder, which is always a good thing!)

You make a hell of a point, Pyro..........
NSMBWii is great fun from start to finish. Especially with multiplayer. So I'd have to pick it as the more fun game.
SMG, on the other hand, is simply a masterpiece and is the superior game by a long way.

SMG by a country mile. Surely it's more fun playing the better game, which SMG clearly is.
