Forums - Sony Discussion - Rockstar promises big things to PS3 owners in 2010

Is GTA a big deal any longer? It seems to be lost in the shuffle at this point. Seems much more buzz for a bunch of other things now.

Only Agent i persume. GTA4 DLC is way to late to be releasing in 2010. First of all GTA4 was kinda crap, and giving PS3 owners already released DLC as a "don't say that we don't take care of our fans"-type deal is just a slap in the face.

And GTA5 this soon isn't going to happen. So i'd say its Agent, and maybe an unannounced title, but thats just maybe.

Why is it too soon?

GTA3 - 23rd Oct 01

Vice City - 28th Oct 02

San Andreas - 26th Oct 04

LC Stories - 25th Oct 05

VC Stories - 31st Oct 06

GTA4 - 29th Apr 08

If anything, we are due a GTA game this year, or early next.

That might be.. might be me being fed up with GTA releases aswell. But i dont think we'll see another full scale GTA game in a while. And certainly not GTA5. Five being the main focus. Episodic content maybe. And OT, no matter what, it won't be ps3 exclusive.

Please be Agent releasing this year 4th Quarter, not anything to do with GTA4 as I have no interest in that anymore.

GTA5... Would cause some major meltdowns.

I could understand why they would go PS3 exclusive... But i could also understand the risk in doing so.

Reason being... paid hundreds of millions by Sony?

Risk... cutting off the majority of their fans, making future releases suffer?

Yes. And not having the limits of DVD to worry about.

Yes. And making it a possible "flop" in terms of GTA sales.

All of their releases last gen were well received, so I don't see how the "limits of DVD" is a legitimate line of reasoning here.

last gen was last gen. DVD is becoming more and more obsolete everyday. With the heavy push for games to look better and more and more content on the discs, DVD is cripling games this gen. Its the equivilant of putting PS2 level graphics on a PS1 CD. Yea, you can do it, but it hinders just how much of it you can do.

They were well recived by critics AND gamers though. GTA4... I don't think we can say the same thing.

If they want to expand on GTA4's engine, give some cool extra features like San Andreas had and also make the city itself much bigger... They will need to go past 1 DVD.

While it doesn't seem too bad, would anyone really want to have disc swaps on a huge sandbox game? Maybe they could get past it with install's... I dunno though.

Anyway. When i said "exclusive" i should have specified... "TIMED Exclusive". Not even last gen GTA's were full exclusive.

Yeah, I'm not sure how that would work either really. Rage is supposed to be open world isn't it? I'm trying to figure out how that game will work on multiple discs as well. GTA could be somewhat similar, if the next one requires multiple discs.

I'm not sure. Not heard too much about Rage tbh. With GTA though, swapping discs between each island would become tiresome. Expecially if it is a multi-island mission or something.

NO Way Rockstar Would Go Exclusive With GTA5 , they would lose too much money , And Doubt Sony is going to pay $500 Million For it , my bet , Agent , GTA4 Content . And GTA5 in 2011 .

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

2010 release date for agent confirmed + red dead redemption + maybe the episodic content?

i can't see a GTA5 coming out exclusively for ps3.
