Forums - PC Discussion - Bioshock DRM- Steam, GFWL and SecuROM 5 machine activation limit

http://store.steampowered.com/app/8859/

The retail version apparently has a 15 key activation limit tied to GFWL and a SecuROM based disc check.

Looks like I'll be spending the money on Mass Effect 2 instead. Do these idiots never learn that the only people who'll be inconvenienced by this bullshit are their own customers?

At least Steam/Valve warns you. A lot of the time they have it in small print on the box for unsuspecting customers. I believe the original had something similar as well but they removed it after a few months (although the Steam version was free of this crap). Hopefully they do the same with this version.

I was going to hold off on this until Summer anyway as I'm on a tight budget, but unless they remove the DRM I'll probably give it a miss completely.

with GFWLcrap, securom is completely irrelevant. I wasn't going to buy it at launch anyway, but this is just stupid. even EA dropped securom!

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

None for me, then.

Bummer. This was gonna be one of the first titles I'd play after building my rig.

A friend of mine sometimes downloads the pirated version of games after buying them, exactly because of this crap.

I still think it's better not to buy at all, though...

It's always funny and immensely stupid when the pirated copy is superior to the retail copy in the customer's eyes.

The 15 key has magically switch to 5 activations keys... Moreover, you need to install Securom and Game for Windows Live... You need to be online at the installation, and you need to be connected to GfWL if you want to SAVE. That's absolute bullshit. I have to go abroad and I don't know if I'll get an internet connection in the immediate future, but one thing is clear, I won't get Bioshock 2

Nice Christmas gift to pirates, 2K.

It's like the double penetration rape of DRM. Thanks a lot 2K.

i havent bought a pc game retail, since Guild Wars: EOTN in 2007. i picked up Bioshock 1 from steam christmas sale for €4.99 and i liked it quite alot. I researched this game a few weeks ago and saw that it will have multiplayer, so i was planning on buying this when it comes out.

should i avoid it instead? i don't know what it is that the TC posted.

GFWL... why do people use this. If you're gonna integrate it with something, do it with Steam.
