In Canada its not illegal to download movies and music.

Wish the PS3 can read .srt files or all sorts of subtitle files as well.

PS3 can only read .srt(subtitles) if they are embedded within the AVI file.

Well, its not illegal to download them, but its illegal to posses them lol. Same thing apply for drugs here in Canada, its not illegual to use them but its illegual to possess them, makes a lot of sense lol.

most files work, but often they dont. ps3 should also get .mkv support and be able to read subs. i want to watch more anime through my ps3.

ps3mediacenter should solve all your problems, provided you have your ps3 on your home network and assuming this is an actual issue. I can't help but feel starcraft is stealth trolling though.

Just add them to a folder on the USB called VIDEO and it will display them properly. If you can't do that, just triangle > display all.

I haven't had a single problem with my PS3 not playing video files, maybe if you're trying to watch some anime with specific codec requirements, you might run into some trouble. In that case you can allways encode it for more common format that is supported.
