everything is good except the psp, i would think they would be holding strong with the new GO. Looks like microsoft is starting to fall behinda little bit.

correct me if i am wrong but this gen is not over yet. also, just because you're not the winner doesn't always means you are loser. Tell me the name of 1 console with 600$ launch price to sell over 32000000 hardware worldwide. PS3 outsold N64 and its about to outsell SNES and 360 (if it can counter possible 360 price cut in 2010) as well. currently they are not as good as one of their competitors but that doesn't mean they are losers. Dreamcast was loser, Saturn was a loser, CD-i was a loser, but not PS3

@Blade - I don't think we can use the price as an excuse as this is solely Sony's fault. Yes, it is a major reason for the terrible sales at first, but blame Sony (and don't start praising them for having been able to sell whatever amount when they handicapped themselves).

I think brandname is what is saving them along with the great efforst (price, slim,) with of course the heavy onslaught of quality games it has gotten (and this since launch).

This is great. I love watching the HD fanboys do battle on the interwebz. Its a nice change of pace from the Wii has no good games or 3rd parties are leaving the Wii stuff. But MS fans. Dont be upset. MS has done great this gen. Sony went from a, what ~65%+ marketshare and ~130m somthing console sold > ~25% MS and ~30+ m, so far sold. Your new 360 has done way better than the old X-Box hasent it? Not to mention all the Billions Sony is losing this gen. Sony is the big loser this gen. MS has picket up from last gen, even if not too much. And Sony has lost a lot. So let the PS3 fans have some fun here. You cant blame them for looking at anything thats good and being happy, even if it has been a bad gen for them in general. But we will see what next gen brings us. If the 7th gen has tought us anything its that we have no idea whats ganna happen next gen.

well can't argue Sony didn't dig themselves into a hole, but losers they are not. You have to take into account the is the firest sony console to cost twice what it did at launch, and that's was 600 $ if your wondering, and is still the most expensive console, so really the ps3 is in last place due to circumstance, and to me that's no big loser. Because if you think for one second that the ps3 for all that it is now and nothing more wouldn't be mopping the floor with the 360 if at launch if it cost 300$ and was 249$ or worse 199$ is to be delusional, so if Circumstance is the only thing holding the ps3 back then they are not losers, just slow off the start. Sony took big risk and knew it would kick'em in the ass as it's doing but where would we be had they didn't certainly not as far as we are now. what do you want, ps3 or a ps2 hd upgrade?

So they are winners because they are expensive, in last place and losing the most money?

I see.

winners no, losers..................... no

Japan is up now and it seems very odd to see the 360 lower than the psp. Good Job Nintendo and Sony, this year could be their best sales year if this trend continues into the 2010 Christmas holiday season.

?

He is talking about world wide.

Since we are talking winners and losers.

Sony has to be thought of the loser this gen. Yes the last 6 months things have gotten better, but there is no way that Sony planned to be losing $ on each PS3 sold after the 4th holiday period. Sony has had to agressively price reduce the PS3 ahead of schedule and that will continue to cost them big $. There are 1-2 more holiday sales periods left before the next generation gets announced and 2-3 holiday sales periods before they launch. PS3 wont be a profitable project. This wasnt Sony's buy into the market this was the followup to the most 2 most successful consoles of all time.

this is what I don't understand, unless you people really think Sony is just stupid, and no nothing about math, the ps3 was once 850 dollars to make meaning they were once losing 200 dollars per console sold, now while that has changed to a mere 30 dollars, I'm pretty sure Sony knew they were going to lose money this gen, they're main focus was getting the tech out the door, same with the go. Mabey sony shouldn't have been the market leader, so people can stop complaining why they did what they did, mabey just mabey they knew they were going into a hole and willingly did so to push the tech further which would benifit them in the future, I mean it's only what they have been saying this WHOLE FREAKING GEN jesus christ -_-. not everyone is microsoft, and not everyone needs to be microsoft, Sony is going to have it real easy next gen that's a fact, and for all you who think they won't ever get as high as they were and really think the xbox has even remotely damaged the ps brand your in for aa rude awaking, the 360 has done nothing but improve the XBOX brand, and as pathectic as is it was last gen yeah big whoop, you managed to do lifetime what the ps2 did in at launch. big whoop (like no duh they gonna do better than that) but whatever right.

All I now thank the lord for teh cell and teh blu ray, next week, preping for some MASSIVE domination ^^.

and I ask myself ever night as to why people choose to disregard that, ( I know why just not saying ).

Why do you guys celebrate when 360 or PS3 beat each other? Is Microsoft/Sony giving you a cut from the money they earn?

Heh, is hilarious that people even argue for this stuff. Knowing the numbers its ok, but arguing/celebrating when one beat the other. . . *sigh*

Anyway, have fun !!

Its funny so many people with 360 tags (oh the minority) are so vocal now about bragging rights now and how they are oh so much against it... wonder why.

Adjustments for 2009 (ending 2nd jan 2010)

Wii up 330k
PS3 up 104k
360 up 30k

So that means the PS3 has finally managed to reduce the gap to its smallest difference ever?

Indeed. The current gap is the smallest ever at 5.35m... so since the ps3 has been available it has sold more than the 360.

Even the most ardent PS3 fan must admit it is surprising it has taken 3 years for a Playstation to show its ability to outpace an Xbox.

Next goal is to actually ovcertake the 360 I guess.  That could be tougher.

The ps3 has outsold the 360 by 1.3 million since its release.
