Forums - Sony Discussion - SONY: Motion Device will become PS3's "DE FACTO" Controller - YAY or nay?!

I think it's obvious they mean they'll be promoting it as a primary control method, alongside the dualshock. In other words, they'll incentivise it's use in third party games and they'll make sure to support it as much as possible in first party games.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I don't actually see a Sony quote stating what's in the headline. I just see another article, which claims its so, again without a link to prove it.

I smell BS.

Sony looks to vigorously promote the Motion Controller as the de facto controller of the PS3 platform along with the Dualshock series controller and will deploy various measures to enhance the software title line-up for the Motion Controller.

Is marijuana the best medicine?

“If any creator has not played Mario, then they’re probably not a good creator. That’s something I can say with 100 percent confidence. Mario is, for game creators, the development bible.

if the gem is in the vain of this fan art where it becomes a dual shock+ motion i'd be fine with that.  Actually, i would really like a two handed dualshock either way.

Well...

It proves they are serious about it, not just adding it for a few cheap sales.

Let's hope it doesn't do THAT well though

You can't have two different de facto methods, it's one or the other, or they wouldn't be de facto...

Motion Controls take up a little under half of the entire gaming population. And, a large percent of those people are 1st time, one time only video game system buyers, why would it have any effect on those who actually have been playing games for the past 20+ years?

It makes no sense, and IF it were to happen (which it wont) Sony would receive a major lashing from it's fans and former customers/consumers.

Why change what works for you because something else works for someone entirely different. It wasn't the controller Sony needed to fix, it was the price, not the controller.. Nintendo had a screwed up controller with the GC and had to fix it.. wasn't the case with Sony... They've got good games, and they've got good hardware and a price....

A bit late, to try and get your entire install base to switch controllers 4 years after launch. Honestly.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's funny listening to them promoting something you know wouldn't have existed without Nintendo and the Wii.

It's funny knowing that 3rd parties are already backing the PS3 Remote with blockbuster hardcore games
