It's been a while, so I guess we were due for another rumor that a remake of Final Fantasy VII is in development for the PS3. At least, that's what the Famitsu Weekly cover posted on this French website is implying. The cover does indeed feature Cloud, with a bunch of screenshots from the PS1 classic on the side, and the words "PS3" and "2009" are the only things I can make out. However, between my French heritage and that semester of the language I took in college, I was able to discern what language the article text was in and plug it into Google translator. In English, it apparently reads, "Finally we expected, it was announced via the cover of the latest Famistu WEEKLY! Wahouuu! Already trophies and a combat system even more speed! The announcement of the decade!"

Without a proper translation of the Japanese magazine cover, though, I can't say I really believe this. Besides, why would Sony and Square Enix want this announcement on the cover of Famitsu and not at, say, an E3 press conference? Also, with Cloud in his Advent Children gear and not his outfit from FFVII, it looks like more of a retrospective of some sort. If any Gamervision community members can properly translate Japanese, please tell us what it says. I'm going to hold off on getting too excited for the time being. My heart's been broken by this lie too many times before.
