Forums - Sony Discussion - What would PSP sales be like without the PSPGO?

The PSP Go did nothing to effect the PSP's sales.

Helped at first (raised awareness, PSP 3000 gained value in comparison, etc) will hurt in the long term as :

- partnerships with resellers will be less favorable than before
- Sony and Playstation brands will be less trusted by consumers
- developper's trust will also decrease

How?

Exactly, people seem to forget that the GO existing doesn't mean the 3k died out completely, they co-exist. I don't see how a GO kills anything regarding trust. The go was created to A: stop the pirates and B: offer an avenue for folks who like to travel around with lots of games in their pocket but in a more convinent fashion.

Developers still have the 3k in existance and their games work just as well on the GO, so how and why will they stop trusting?

I can sorta understand the consumers but as with most things, it's their fault for not reading the label. So I don't see how anyone can lose trust in Sony over this.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It only did good things of the sales of the PSP. the hype around the go gave the PSP some much needed exposure and sales.

I think the PSPGo was meant for long time PSP hacker like me. Im buying PSP games now because I prefer to play them on the Go while the hacked PSP is staying on the desk for emulator purpose. In the last 3 years I never ever purchase a PSP games, but since I purchase the Go 1 month ago ive already purchase 3 games. I thinks that if they can do that with only 20% of their current hacked PSP userbase they can rack a lot of profit. At the end who will be the most interested in getting a better and smaller PSP after 5 years on the market??? Probably your current userbase that use it a lot, and 50% of those have hacked PSP. A new design was the best idea to have them switch to it.

Did the PSP outsell the 360 last week? I believe that if anything that the PSP has risen to the occasion despite how you feel about the Go.

"PSP sales were looking pretty good. However, all that changed when the PSP:GO came along."

BULLSHIT

Be it as it may... I'm looking at the Charts data YOY from Nov 2008 - Jan 2009 and comparing it to Nov 2009 to Jan 2010. The PSP is down significantly as opposed to what would have been the predicted 'usual' growth.

The DS had no real iteration of the system and I believe that the consumer has a sense of safety in buying the nintendo products.

Understand that in no way am I criticizing the hardware itself. I like the PSP. I'm merely trying to get the opinion of others on a matter...

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

06th Apr 2008 to 26th Jul 2008:

3,677,306

05th Apr 2009 to 25th Jul 2009:

2,123,758

Second Quarter 2008 compared to Second quarter 2009. PSP down by around 1.5Million. The Go's first release date in it's FIRST REGION was 1st October 2009.

PSP YoY sales were down long before the PSPGo...
