Happened to me too (not to the extent of getting King Kong or anything like that, though.)

I haven't really left it, either. Every time I get a game I convince myself to try and get all the achievements even if I don't find it fun after a while. Only game I actually had fun getting all the achievements on (except multiplayer, never played multiplayer properly on it) was GTA4. Yes, even the flying rats.

Flying rats huh, had to deal with a few of those back in my humble bakery working days (damn you pigeons).

Well done on getting all the pigeons, you have a lot of patience.

Simple.

Don't look at the achievement list.

Pretend they're not there.

If you get some, great.

If not, ah well. If you enjoyed the game, THEN you can come back and try for achievements. I never try for trophies on the first playthrough.

I really enjoyed MGS4 because of the alck of trophies. Kind of focused on the narrative instead. Wonder what a trophy patch would do to the experience.

looking at the achievement/trophy list is the first step to becoming addicted, ignore it and you can enjoy your games.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

New idea.

A game has ~45 achievements. Go to your local convenience store and buy 45 Mars bars (substitute for a different chocolate if you're weird and don't like Mars).

Tell a hobo to sit outside one of your windows.

Every time you get an achievement, throw one of the Mars bars out of the window to be eaten by the hobo.

When you've finished with the game, eat the rest of the Mars bars.

You'll put on a hell of a lot of weight, and it'll cost no small amount to buy 45 Mars bars for every game, but you can't put a price on curing addiction.

Thank me when it works and you are addicted to Mars bars now.
