Intel or AMD

Intel 64 43.24%

AMD 84 56.76%

Total:148

I was just wondering which processors Vgchartz members prefer for their games and everyday computing tasks. Simple poll, but it's my first one. Mine is AMD, because they don't charge an arm and a leg for their CPU's like Intel does. What's yours?

AMD - I have used them exclusively for 10 plus years.

I reckon you get far more bang for your buck.

Intel were crazily expensive 10 years ago. Not the case anymore but until AMD let me down I wouldnt switch back.

I used to have only AMD, but the E8400 performed far better for its price than any AMD model at that time, so I chose it.

Works like a charm and is a true overclocking beast.

Well, my last 2 PCs and my current HTPC have AMD inside, but I think the next system I get will be based off an i7.

Right now Intel's processors have the upper hand in term of performance, but that can change any day with new releases.

At some point, something must have come from nothing...

...nothing can come from nothing...

sorry if i am sounding like a fanboy... but i know i will... don't care... bottom line is that i will not give any of my money to Intel, i dont buy a desktop every year, so i can wait for AMD to do a good job and buy then... only intel product i use is one laptop that my employer gave it for me to work!

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

AMD. I buy AMD and ATI regardless of price and performance. I'll never again buy Intel or Nvidia.

Less than ~$180: AMD.
More than ~$180: Intel.

Buy CPUs based on price/performance of the platform and power consumption. Nothing else. Certainly don't ignore or favour either company's products when making a decision.

AMD usually offers better value at the price points it competes at. Intel will give you maximal performance, but only a small fraction of the market look for performance alone; most are on a budget and want value.

CPU fanboyism is pathetic. I don't want to see AMD bankrupt because of Intel's anticompetitive actions but other than that they are profit-making corporations that don't need defending by you.

Intel for CPU and ATi for GPU is my choice!

Intel -> Best performance

AMD -> Much cheaper. Motherboards are also cheaper, I think.
