It's not often completely off when it comes to software. Anyway you're the one who wants GT5 to sell low so I don't expect you to agree. |
It's been off plenty of times on HW AND SW, I'll go as far as to say that the preview is not a good measure for predicting sales.
I'll go as far as saying as using the preview's data is as bad as saying a COMG pre order = .5 in sales or something like that that you guys seem to wanna use.

I wouldn't say its incredibly leggy GT3 WAS but GT4 really wasn't that leggy at all. And the problem is when GT3 came out PS2 sales were so high in Japan that as so many people were buying PS2's each week there was more of a chance for GT3 having legs..........GT5 won't have this with the PS3. Another thing we have to see is that the franchise has been in consistent decline. More than anyone I'd love for it to do 1 Million there....but I dunno :( Still EU will be monstrous for it so I'm not worried at all. |
GT3 sold more than GT2 in Japan so I wouldn't exactly say that the franchise is in consistent decline. I expect GT5 to sell as well as GT4 or slightly higher because it is releasing in November, and Japan's holidays last until mid-January which means the game is going to have legs until then because it is PS3's biggest title and will receive the most promotion out of its entire holiday lineup (which isn't very big anyway).

It's a much better measure than the one you're using. Remember that you predicted GT5 to sell 500k LT and 300k FW "Max". That's a bad prediction. But it's okay.

or maybe first entry on the new console is always bought more than the second or third entry on the same console. . after all its a simulator, so second or third entry isnt going to change the thing too dramatically or give a new story line... its not like RPG or FPS like genre.. just a point of view.

Also, a lot here say that MHIII sold great on the Wii, because it outsold the PS2 entries, which was before the "monster hunter boom" that happened during the PSP-era, but pretty much every analyst in Japan agrees that it underperformed, and that also is a game appeals to a wide audience, like kids, teenagers and adults there. . |
Outside the crazy head of Famitsu (who also said DQIX underperformed, lol) who else in the JP industry has said MH3 underperformed?
Also, MH2 released after MHP. And the best version of MH2 released after MHP2... so really, MH2 came alongside the PSP MH boom, yet that didn't translate to console sales either...

It's coming out this year in Jp as well right? or did I miss the news of it getting pushed to 2011 |
Kirby games never have big openings (they're all between 100-250k), they just tend to have insane legs. I'm getting more pessimistic on Epic Yarn though, I think it's only going to do around 100k fw and maybe 600k lifetime. Had HAL continued with Kirby GC/Wii, I think that'd have been a much bigger seller tbh.
Mario Collection is going to be HUGE though. It's going to be a million seller, maybe more even...
^Well I've been saying that about Kirby for a long while now and I think the same thing is going to happen with DK although it will sell more than Kirby. Nintendo snobbed DK for too long now. It surely will have an effect on sales.

It's still pretty close especially as MGS4 has only gotten one reprint so far.
