Pretty much no one hates Sega by now though many hate Sonic. Granted most of the Sonic haters haven't played a Sonic game in years and have little idea what they're talking about but we'll ignore that.

i LOVE SEGA!!!

but i have to correct people who says resonance of fate/ end of eternity is theirs. they are the publisher but tri-ace is the developer.

but i'm soooo thankful to SEGA memorable games that i loved. i want burning rangers for the ps3 =( it was my favourite Saturn game.

i'm hoping for another valkyria chronicles on the ps3. since its still selling well, i'm sure it will happen eventually.

I don't hate them. I just don't think they were ever that great of a company. If the dreamcast was so good like everyone says then how come it only sold like 15 million units? It came out a year before the PS2 so it should have done well.

Dreamcast sold 10 million in a 2 year life span and assembled a game library worthy to take on any console. But you know, piracy = no software sales = unsustainable business and less future third party support. And Sega did lots of price cuts that only lost them money, they had to pull the plug.

I didn't know Dreamcast had piracy. That certainly hurt their chances then. And I respect the games the console had like Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi but the console sales were horrid. All my friends had PS2 and some had Xbox, none had Dreamcast. It just wasn't popular in the real world; I don't know why on game sites people act like it was God.

As long as sega sticks with software they're a good company in my books. Valkyrie Chronicles was great and lots of people like Bayonetta/madworld.

You can burn Dreamcast ISO files on CDs and play them without hardware mods or anything. So when CD burners became popular, it was bye bye software sales. It does make it a fun retro console to have though since you can just burn any game in its library if you just have the console.

Its sales was pretty decent during its lifetime I think, the Megadrive sold 29 million and had a normal console lifecycle with most of its sales during a 5 year period I think, while Dreamcast sold 10m during 2 years. Had it had software sales and lived longer, I think it could have done pretty decent, perhaps similar sales to Gamecube. As you said, public awareness for the console was horrid, especially if you, like me lived in Europe. I didn't even know the Dreamcast existed until it was too late.

Dreamcast is usually highly regarded since it had everything that should make up a successful console, but it still failed for other reasons.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Wow I really didn't realize it was that easy to pirate the Dreamcast. That's even easier then PSP. Well I guess 10m in 2 years isn't too bad. At that rate in 5 years it would have outsold Xbox and Gamecube.

Who are these SEGA haters? They need to be shot.

In terms of RPGs, I think Sega is delivering more than Square Enix (this generation).

You need a DS asap.

I think Sega hate died out a little after their hardware did.  Then the Sony fans suddenly loved Virtua Fighter and the Nintendo fans suddenly loved Sonic.

this gen has been the first since the genesis days that i believe in the SEGA brand. They have provided me with several quality titles, as both developer and publisher.

Condemned
Condemned 2
Viking: Battle for Asgard
The Club
Sonic Unleashed
House of the Dead: Overkill
Madworld
Bayonetta

Upcoming

Resonance of Fate
Alien vs Predator
Yakusa 3

I love Sega! They brought me into gaming.

I don't think anyone really hates Sega, just their lack of effort in their new Sonic games and more recently their poor handling of the port for Bayonetta. Haven't really played the Sonic handheld games, so I'm only speaking of the home console versions.

I bought Sonic '06 for 10 bucks at Wal-mart. God that game is awful. Bugs galore, no real sense of speed, and whatever happened to the whole attitude thing. Played the demo of Sonic Unleashed and loved it. Graphics were good and it had speed, but with control. Reminded me of the old Sonic games. But then I learned there aren't too many parts of the game like that, and a lot of them were kinda short. And OMG Black Knight. I laugh everytime I think about that game. BlackBusterCritic on Youtube made a vid demonstrating how you could play that game basically blindfolded. Just hold forward and waggle the Wiimote. Pathetic.

But hey, the Sonic Team doesn't really have to try, not with all the Sonic "lovers" and furries out there. They buy anything Sonic as long as he's in it. Hell, they probably buy more copies so the sales numbers are inflated. Even though I know there are some diehard Mario fans, I think they would be able to bash a Mario game if it was complete crap.

Don't look at me. I even liked Golden Axe: Beast Rider.

+1 Golden Axe: Beast Rider was a good hack & slash affair that required good timing.

Pretty tough too.
