Forums - General Discussion - Obamas most despicable act to date.

A month or so ago I posted on here about a choice that I thought was going to be interesting for him. The two healthcare bills that they are trying to merge have some competing ideas in them. One of the bills wants to tax the rich more, and the other wants to tax high value insurance plans. Obama is on the side of taxing high value insurance plans.

I wrote about how this poses a problem for him, because most people with those plans are union workers, and that's his base. I wanted to see how he would handle making a choice his base didn't like, but he was doing because he thought it was the right thing.

Well, he solved the problem in the most despicable way. He exempted union workers from it. They don't have to pay the tax until 2018, yet anyone else with that plan will (a.k.a Republican).

Of all the things he has done, and he has done a lot of shit, this is the one that pisses me off the most. It's a complete disregard for what his office stands for. It's one thing to change policy because you think it's what's best for the country, but to just reward the people who vote for you at the expense of everyone else is just sickening.

There is no way to justify this kind of action as "good for America". it's just good for him.

FYI: I don't have one of those plans, so I am not mad because it effects me.

Sounds like it may be an equal protection violation to me....

Oh yea, I hear we have a Supreme Cout around here somewhere to take care of these things. I have not heard a word out of them in years however, with respect to anything Bush or Obama wants to do.

Not sure why we still have them really. They don't seem to do anything about the big issues.

Wow that's absolutely horrible. As if union workers don't have it good enough (they pretty much can't be fired unless they royally fuck up, and they can strike whenever they feel like a raise) already now they don't have to pay the tax for another 8 years.

How biased and unfair can he be. People (aka democrats/socialists) seem to think the wealthy just have unlimited funds and can pay all the tax in the world.

Im sorry for my ignorance, but as im not a native of your country whats an equal protection violation all about?

wow you are a real one trick pony

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

it means you can't make a law, and then randomly apply it to a subgroup of your choice. I am sure that's not the true definition, but that's the basic idea.

So, if I was President and I wanted to tax anyone over 6 feet tall more just because they are tall, I am not allowed to.

Yea, this is the basic liberal response of the day. No way in hell they can justify the actions of the people they put in office, so all that's left to do, is attack the people who oppose them.
Care to defend the position of the President, and not just jump my case? Also care to look at how many posts back I have said anything about Obama?

I wonder what his approval rating is now, after everything that he's done? I remember it being a low 23% a few months ago.

Also, is seems this move will lower the revenue they calculated by 90 billion. So, if the president is going to live by his word that he will not sign a bill that's budget neutral, they need to figure out where that 90 billion is coming from.

I am sure they can make it up. 18 million of the uninsured are so by choice (the young). The way the bill reads now, they will either have to buy insurance at thousands of dollars a year, or just pay the $750 tax penalty for not having it. Top that with the fact that if they get sick, they can get insurance on the way to the hospital, why would then buy it?

Most of those 18 million will stay uninsured, and the budget expects all of them to buy insurance.

There is an example of playing with numbers they know are not real. They will do something similar to find the 90 billion, I am just curious what it is.

I do know what the smartest thing Obama has done in all this is... not putting it into action until 2014... after the next election. Convenient how that works.
