Forums - Microsoft - Who's still getting FInal Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360?

PS3 for me. In terms of pure visual and sound quality it's the better version, and since I've supposedly got a moded 360, Live and acheivements aren't really an issue for me.

I am. Also, if anything was cut specifically "due to the 360", I would like to see links and actual sources to confirm this information. I bet SE is going to make money by releasing DLC..... so in the long run they're the one company who wins in the end. Post any comments/thoughts on anything related to this. Personally, I can't wait to obtain my acheivements. My jrpg console of this generation.... (which is the Xbox 360) will love it ;)

No where does it mention that it was removed because of the 360...

It doesn't directly mention the 360 but one of the reasons given was "game volume". As volume isn't a problem for a Blu-Ray disk, it's believed that some of that content was done so to keep the number of disks down, resulting in both versions suffering some.

They'll likely re-use it for something else down the road, perhaps Versus.

Each FF always has content cut from it's final version, it has always been like this, since FFVI days, why is this such a harsh discussion now? I really don't get it, this game would still have content cut even if it was a PS3 exclusive.

Yes, but all previous FFs were also exclusive and took complete advantage of the hardware available. The issue here is whether areas were cut because of the multiplatform decision rather than a purely design decision. The "game volume" comment needs some clarification (possibly mistranslation?) as at present it sounds like the decision to go multiplatform has held content back. If it was purely a game design issue then it's not a problem, but I think even if Square were to come out and say it was based on design, some people will still blame the DVD limitations after this recent comment.

You don't have a PS3 so it's no surprise you're getting the 360 version. I have both, so it's no surprise I'm getting the PS3 version.

Well, that's just speculation then, but I didn't pay too much heed to those declarations, because they always used "Volume Constrains" as the reason for not using the entire development content in each FF game.

FFVI, especially, had more than half of the original content cut as well. FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX suffered a similar fate. FFX-2 story was supposed to be in FFX originally as well. They could always make a new game with the cut content if they so desire, a huge game like FF always gets too many development ideas.

Hehe, I thought you would say that :P

Actually, I think the worst case with cut or modified content in any FF was with FFXII. They completely changed the story mid way in development when Matsudo left the company. I loved FFXII, but sometimes I wonder how much more wonderful it could have been.

I bought A PS3 for this and I shall buy it for my PS3!

As an owner of a PS3 and a future owner of the 360 (this year), I'll be getting it for the PS3.

If you own both, there is no sense in getting the 360 version. One disc is better than three, and if you pack the hardware, the audio and FMV's on the PS3 are noticeably better.

yes there is.... read back.

I own both and I will get the 360 version, as others have said, due to achievements, favoured controller, live cross game chat.

Why is this so difficult to accept?

Dude, it's an RPG. What does a controller matter here?

Plus, achievements are not a good reason to prefer one version to another - unless you're racing to get a high gamerscore or chart in the top 100's or top 10's.

That is why I don't consider either reason. Also... Cross game chat? Would you really wanna be disturbed in the middle of an RPG?
