Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony: MAG will make you buy a PS3

I agree MAG will be a system seller, I have played the beta a lot, and love it, There is nothing else like it out there. When you first start it takes a bit to fully understand how to play , but ounce understood its so fun, Large scale game with no lag, amazing, Also MAG is a game that if you play with a bunch of new commers that don't know what they are doing, it may leave a bad taste in your mouth, MAG is a game really based on teamwork, ounce you put together a really good team with players who all know what is going on , its so much fun. If you have played and don't know what to think m give another chance, play with teams with experience, you will really enjoy.

Umm. . . no, it will not. I could make a long list (I acually did) of PS3 games that made me go out and get one, and MAG was nowhere near that list. PS3 is not for FPS, PS3 is for JRPG, PS3 is for fighters and PS3 is for MGS (for me! not for everyone I know!)

we could see PS3 is slowly building it reputation around FPS games

It'll be great for those people whom like FPS online. People need to stop judging it by the beta because rarely is there a flawless beta...that's why it's a beta.

Rarely is a beta used to actually test the game anymore. BF:BC2 comes to mind along with MNR. They gave away the codes to anyone who wanted them. So people just play it to see what the game is about and never report any bugs they encounter. Home had a proper beta where it was extremely hard to get into(for EU anyway) and you had to sign an NDA. So there was less leaks from them but there was still plenty. We had a special forum that no one else could see so we could talk about it. Most betas now are just becoming a demo to people who look at gaming sites and not to actually test the game.

Betas are used to test server stability and general issues. It doesn't matter if most people don't report bugs. You're not supposed to report bugs. They can tell if games are crashing a lot.

If it was a demo, MNR would have an unlimited number of keys.

Kentor is right, also open beta's can be used to tweak balancing and such. If a certain faction or side or weapon has too much of an advantage it's a lot easier and quicker to find out in an open beta than a limited closed beta. I'm sure zipper is keeping statistics on everything to see what works and what doesn't work. As for bugs they can be found much easier in a controlled environment.

I am interested in this game but what I also find interesting is the ability to successfully create a multiplayer game with so many people at one time. Even if this game doesn't interest you atleast Sony has the know how to create a giant scaled battle for future games that might be different than MAG, maybe even a different genre. That should interest potential customers more than just the game of MAG.

I think we're starting to see the PS3 starting to demonstrate it is the console for FPSs, but its getting a reputation for having great games across a wide variety of genres.

WELL IF i DIDN'T HAVE A PS3, THEN YEAH THIS GAME WOULD TOTALLY MAKE ME BUY IT

Somebody would seriously buy a PS3 for MAG??? Seriously???
I can understand for games like MGS4, or Uncharted 2(after all the great reviews it has), or if you're into fps games MW2 (or KZ2 though I don't like it) or BF: BC2, but MAG? Is Sony on crack?

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

Looks like it's already going to be a failure.
No matter how good this game sells, it will never shift enough console to call it a success based on Sony's expectations.

I'll give it another chance when it comes out but the beta was mediocre at best.

Beta didn't convince me to buy this game, so will wait for some reviews and feedback from people on here before I decide. 256 players online=Lag+Bad Multiplayer maps. Respawning was a joke, it would take like 2 minutes to get back to the fight cause to maps are so big!! But as its only a beta and if Zipper fix these problems it could change my mind
