Forums - Sales Discussion - Darksiders outsells Bayonetta on both HD consoles (more than twice)

Bayonetta is suddenly niche? In the same genre as Devil May Cry that has sold millions? From the same team that did Devil May Cry 1 and 3? REALLY?!?

I'd chalk this one up to marketing by in large, Darksiders has been promoted at gamestop since mid 2009, Bayonetta has not, Darksiders had some preorder deals, Bayonetta has not, Darksiders has a appealing commercial, Bayonetta does to but a terrible song and makes it a bit less appealing, and Gamestop has had Darksiders on gamestop TV and up on posters in the store for a while.

This isn't the game being marketed at wal-mart or other outlets, gamestop is the outlet for this game and the correlation between marketing there and sales is really strong I'd say.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

Im happy about these sales. Darksiders is a bit open world (not sure but I think so lol) which should always pay off.

Meanwhile I dont like anything about Baynoetta. I dislike it's style, the concept etc.

I don't understand why HD consoles doen's sell japanese software...

Woohoo! Go Darksiders! That's the game I bought and I feel it has served my tastes well. It was a very fun game.

Well, I'd personally like to see Darksiders do well. It seems like the beginning of a great franchise.

I dont know...darksiders already seems been there done that franchise to me.

Bayoentta on the other hand...I hope they don't make another one. Unless they can bring as many new ideas to the table, let it sit as a underrated classic that it is.

Lol, Darksiders is a "been there done that" game and Bayonetta isn't?  What about all the DMC4/Bayonetta comparisons....  Seems they are both "been there done that" and what game isn't these days?

In style posybly it appears done before.

But in excecution Bayonetta is so far above anything else... Game just feels differenent from anything you'd get from Activision, Capcom or anyone else this gen.

I am most interested in the legs/word of mouth sales this game generates. Playing Bayonetta makes me feel funny (in a good way), and that makes it different in my eyes. Game is badass!

Regardless, both games are great additions to a gaming library.

Meh, just looks like another boring DMC clone to me.  And having a girl lead character doesn't help.  Sure she looks nice, but I just can't be absorbed into a game as the lead character when that character is a different gender than me... :/

Meh, it's not that surprising.

Darksiders is more mainstream in every imaginable way from name and cover art to gameplay.

Never even heard of Darksiders but I may actually look it up now .

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
