By lengthening this argument one could easily say that only bad games sell badly, and that is just not true.

Well something causes even good games not to sell, and unless there is some cultural prejudice, it's not reasonable to blame the audience.

I blame the audience.  People are to eager to pick up the latest game that is basically last years game with a higher number.  Few people like to try anything new, which is evident by games that gain popularity well after their release.  Case in point:

By that logic, MadWorld and Dead Space: Extraction should have sold like hotcakes. They were pretty good games.

Also, Metroid Prime Trilogy should have outsold CoD:MW2 on the HDs, because each one is a WAY better game than MW2, and there are THREE of them in the package, AND its only $50, not $60.

Somehow I think they've missed something along the way, and Capcom has just a bit more experience than some small-time dev, at judging the market. Just maybe.

No. This is just a misleading title. Marcin Kawa just told when you failed, it's because you did something wrong. And it's true.

Too much on rail shooters.

Let's wait for the true test: MH3 and TvsC.

Both games would sell well on HD consoles but I can't see games like Madworld and The Conduit selling well on the x360 or PS3.

I would respond, but the link is dead. What game is that supposed to be?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Why wouldn't mad world sell well on the ps3 or 360?

The conduit is understandable since its not as good as the average PS3/360 shooter.

Wait... A third party developer is actually speaking logic about the Wii?

No... It can't be... I must be dreaming.

Dead Space: Extraction is an on-rails. On-rails isn't a popular genre and it's already super-saturated on the Wii. Unpopular and super-saturated genre = bad sales.

MadWorld is a niche (and repetitive) game.

Metroid Prime Trilogy? Most of the funs already bought the first two games and Metroid Prime 3 sold very well, so Trilogy sold very well for what it is.

-Edit-

@leo-j

Madworld is a niche title and Bionic Commando has more quality than Madworld but it sold worse.

Brawlers that last just a few hours and have no replay value sell well on those systems?

"Our logic is far simpler: if the game doesn't sell, we did something wrong."

This is very true. If you fail to sell your product there is no one to blame but yourself.

It's not just quality that makes a game sell though, and a recent example would be Bayonetta. Recognition, marketing and understanding your audience are vital points in making a huge seller.

What a concept! A good game has better chances of selling.......better! With what these 3rd parties have been telling me I'm finding it hard to believe that!

Whoever this guy is, I like his gutsy talk. Developers need some swag. Last Flight just jumped onto my radar.
