Forums - Sales Discussion - Capcom Q2 Earnings Release (11/08)

@erikers: you are right, sorry, my fault.

@gamingdevil: um, yes, lots.

@topic: didnt know costs of mainly porting games (RE4, Okami et al) is that prohibitively high that it diminishes income....

Seriously, I would guess that most developers will have diminished income in the beginning of a new console cycle R&D costs etc.) that will over time get less.

Wow , MHF2 still bring big profit for Capcom ... now if this is not time for a new PSP Capcom game ( give you a tip : RE , DMC , DC ) than I dont know when it will be ..

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

@Erikers - You're wrong. The vast majority of Mega Man games have been 2d platformers - Without even looking it up, I can count 26 of them off the top of my head. There have been seven Mario 2d Platformers. Rehashes aren't things that use the same character, they're things that use the same basic set of ideas. No Mario genre has been used 26 times - none has been even a third of that, except Mario Party, which is, in fact, a bunch of useless rehashes developed by a third party.

If you're condescending in your posts, you're a fanboy.

I know this is off topic, but if you don't count ports as different games and releases of the same game in a different region, then the number of games with Mario in the title is about 100 in the wikipedia list.

Anyway, if it comes down to changes in the basic formula of gameplay in the various main games and spin off series of the Mario and Mega Man franchises, Mega Man games are definitely more of a rehash than Mario games.

Good point. X and Zero are spinoffs of the series, but they might as well be main games. When Wario spunoff, he did make some platformers, but the Warioware series is nothing like the main Mario games. Yoshi spunoff into two different puzzle games (since Yoshi's Island is part of the main Mario series). Even Luigi spunoff into a horror spoof game.

And some of the Wario games are almost nothing like any of the 2d mario games - See, for example, Wario Land 3, which has as much puzzler as platformer in it. Brilliant game, btw.
