Okay, it's just a wild guess. Not even sure if it's true, but if so, that would make sense. Why try to make deals with all the developers when you just need a few retailers to make it hard for third parties to mistreat your system.

Hadn't thought of that..Although its been stated that third parties use Wii as a dumping ground to fund big budget HD games. Maybe this is Nintendo's response to third parties statements and actions as of late...

Then again, removing the vast majority of the games on retailer shelves will give the impression that the selection is measly compared to the competition and give it less show off factor all in all. Who do you think gets the free shelf space?
And why didn't Sony do the same to hinder large amounts of shovelware with the PS2? God knows that console had a slew of shitty games to its name...

If Nintendo made the deal, their games are excluded. Did you even think about what you wrote?

but now that you mention it, i does sound like a very good idea. most people go to the mall and buy whatever they find there that has nice boxart.

or like if i can't find what i want i usually get whatever else the store has, so i won't go home empty handed (like if i really want something new)

in the end, I think it's always better if less shovelware gets into people's homes.

In short-- no.

If Nintendo did something like that they would be in a lot of legal trouble due to anti competition laws.

I did just make this up for fun, but that's not really a reason not to do that, since Sony made deals with some retailers to get HD-DVD partially or wholly excluded from stores.

If Nintendo didn't want these games sold, they simply wouldn't grant the publishers the license to produce them.

Surely they wouldn't want to miss out on those lucrative licencing fees?
