Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii is in Trouble.

The Wii in NOT DOMED!! It's perfectly flat on each side. PS3 is DOMED!

I will say, I was confused at first whether to take the OP serious or not, then I figured it had to be a joke, no one likes the Tarheels.

Why are threads like these allowed? They encourage trolling and can be considered trolling in and on themselves since the OP is almost always some kind of super inflammatory content and/or subject.
This is why I have no respect for Rol as a poster and never found him funny; he trolls using the same method, lures people into a snare, has a laugh about it and people get banned for getting upset (sorry to criticize him while he's gone but everyone here knows I feel this way anyway).

I ask again; why are these threads allowed? I'm not one to piss on your parade tarheel91 but I never see the humor in these. "Haha, you thought I was serious and you are now venting your stupid opinions openly so everyone can mock you!"
I don't like it, not one bit. One could say that its innocent fun but I don't, people get genuinely upset or even banned for considerable lengths of time over these threads sometimes.
Surely, there must be other ways of being "funny", look at d21lewis or amp316, those are two funny posters that don't mock, flamebait or troll anyone, its all goodhearted fun and games.

You might want to take that up with a mod, not make an issue of it in this thread.  They're just a PM away.  I will say that catching people isn't the sole point.  It's supposed to be funny on its own.  There are countless works of satire throughout literature which are funny despite no trying to "trap" anyone.  They generally try to make some point through it.  In my case, I was trying to bring out the terrible cherry picking and spinning that goes on in these forums (regardless of the user's console preference).  Honestly, anyone who gets tripped up despite my "I BLAME WII FIT" hint, a page full of Petz games, my use of a .2% decrease, manipulation of a news post, etc. deserves to be tripped up.

@Raze: Haha, ironic joke considering UNC sells more merchandise than any other sports team/college in the nation.  Oh, and I attend NC State, by the way.

What? amp316 trolls Boom Blox all the time.

I don't mind, since I know he'll be punished for his sins in the afterlife. He'll be transformed into an effigy of Sean Connery made entirely of blocks and demons will demolish him over and over again with bowling balls.

CGI has almost 15,500 and Gnizmo has almost 4,500. :D

So far I count 15-16 users.  That includes Ghutto who edited his post and Snow, the most recent victim on page 3.

@famousringo: I thought about going that route, but with major retailers getting rid of casual games, who's going to carry stuff like Mario games and Trauma Center games (hospital game, lololololol now THAT is the defintion of casual) to keep the casual fad going?

Edit: This thread has made me more money in one day than all the money I've made since the 13th of November.  Now I see why Rol does this all the time.

yeah, it's pretty profitable lol. and congratz, i forgot about CGI, 15,500 high score! that's gotta be some kind of record :D

Okay, since it's on the second page, I'll explain it a bit. Duh, it's a joke thread. I thought the absurdity of the arguments would give it away. I mean, for my "randomly selected page" it was alphabetically organized so that all the Petz titles would show up. I referenced two gamecubes ducktaped together. I did everything I could.

I'm also disappointed no one noticed my subtle tribute to Rol's Wii Bingo thread and fkusumot's famous tag line in one.

I figured this site was missing something with Rol gone, so I tried to fill in as best I could.

Rol had no part in this piece (aside from inspiring it). I wrote it, and I'd hope my lack of awkwardly worded phrases is enough to show Rol didn't (English being my first language and all).

Y'know, there's quite a few people here that just go into blind rage anytime anyone says anything bad about their console of choice, so, maybe you should mark it with a big 'JOKE THREAD'-warning at the top, next time. Give 'em a heads-up.

I for one thought it was pretty funny and obvious, but clearly some people didn't get it.

If people flame and break the rules in a thread, it isn't the OP's fault, it's their's. Even IF the OP was flaiming (this isn't the case here i believe), it's the OP's problem and not the responder who's getting banned for flaming back. It's the Mods' job to respond to particular types of threads/posts how they see fit.

so in short, if someone get banned it's their own fault.

PS: the thread IS funny, i laughed (out loud) while reading it, which is rare for me these days. then i laughed even more at the people who believed that all that crazyness in the OP was serious :D :D :D

Geez...some people have no sense of humor. I personally found the thread funny. Lighten up people--it's only Monday!

I agree with you on many points, especially the quality of games issue. The problem is that the people buying these games really don't know what they are buying. Wii Music anyone. As much as I respect Myamoto, when I saw him at E3 with Wii Music I thought it would be the last thing Nintendo ever let him work on. Seriously. I think the highest review I saw by a respectable reviewer was 5.5. I've played it. WOW!! It is like a preschooler video game you would buy a toddler in the back aisle at Toys R Us. Anyway, the "Casual" consumer is the moron that keeps buying all the shovelware regardless of what it is. If it says "Wii" something.......it must be good. Mario and Sonic at the Olympics? Its sales are right up there with GTA4, for one console. The point I'm trying to make is that there are too many uneducated buyers out there, and with over 60 million consoles world wide, somebody's going to buy a "Wii" title regardless if it needs to be thrown into the E.T. pit. AND..........with the $200 price point it can't be beat for the poor consumer(sorry, the arcade 360 is a joke). Well, there it is.
