WoW Will always remain the #1 MMORPG, not because it's so massive and the sales, it's because the depth in the game is like none other, and has yet to be topped.

I forgot they were making a full sequel finally to GW, and now its actually going to be a MMO unlike GW's instance only missions, and its gonna' be free!

Everyone thought Aion was gonna finally take down the MMO giant that is WoW, but it failed, true Aion has style, but it lacks class. oh and theres still that monthly fee...

So since GW2 is gonna be free, do you think we may now have a major contender for WoW finally out of hundreds that continue to fall short?

OFC u forgot it's comming out b/c there are like 2000 gazzilions of other mmos comming out, all of them soooo special that they gonna dethrone WoW. /irony_off

Noone with a brain in his head had thought that Aion could take down WoW. Noone with a brain in his head thinks that GW2 has a chance to dethrone WoW. The only way for WoW to go is by destroying itself, which ultimately will happen when Blizzard decides to.

Not a chance, it has the same major flawe that all the WoW competitors have had, and that is it is just too similar to wow. As someone else already said, for a game to unseat wow it has to be something completely different as you need to attract the wow players with something new.

^This. Nothing can touch that.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

One thing that I believe will help the product which eventually will unseat World of Warcraft is the dramatic increase in processing power that has happened since World of Warcraft launched. While some people will assume I am referring to prettier graphics on the client end which has not had an impact on WoW so far, I actually think how it influences the server side will be more dramatic. MMO games for a very long time have had very rudimentary interactivity because server processing power is split to support a world that handles thousands of users. The result of this is encounters which are (generally) very primitive and representative of single player RPGs of a decade earlier. In the next couple of years, you should be able to present a fully interactive world which could create a game dynamic not currently available in any game.

I doubt it. Diablo 3 however will dethrone it :P

The first Guild Wars had an awesome world. But I never got to explore places like Maguuma jungle in the original. It was all about progressing and PvP, no exploring and role playing and leveling and getting cool skills.

If all that is fixed, I will gladly buy GW2, because I will never pay a subscription for any game, not even a Blizzard game, and considering how big a Blizzard fan that I am, that's really saying something.

why not??you get what you pay for. An world that is always growing,a massive user base ,100's of dungeons and raids and amazing depth in terms of everything really. oh and not to mention the best customer support in the world.

For the same reason that I always only buy the 'must have' games for consoles and the games with long replayability and nothing else. I don't like spending lots of money on gaming. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that usually I have more important things to spend money on.

define quality, the key to a MMO is the content, amount of the content, and the quality of the content, which WoW had a huge head start with, and PC games don't have the type of generation gap that consoles do in general, especially when comes to MMOs. in a MMORPG environment, nothing tops WoW old or new, and that's me quitting back in 2008 and never going back again saying that. =P

Well, since quality for one person might be garbage to another, we may never agree, but in my eyes, Guild Wars was superior to WoW. I tried WoW and found it to be exceptionally boring. Yes, it had, and still has, an incredible amount of polish, but the gameplay is laughable. With WoW, grind is the word. And thank god, you can have an opinion without the majority being right. How people put up with it is beyond me.

In Guild Wars on the other hand, you can be maximum level, have the best armor available and have good weapons just by completing the storyline. The game is focused on player skill, and doesn't require you to level up or grind for equipment or cash to be competetive. It's all about having the right tactics and choosing the right setup before going into battle.

And Guild Wars 2 looks to improve on the first game in every way.

The thing is, Guild Wars is actually one of the few games that are not hugely influenced in the MMO space, and is also rather succesful.
