Forums - Sony Discussion - Could inFamous 2 be the new Uncharted 2?

No it won't. Infamous was nowhere near the game uncharted was. I loved uncharted, everything was done great except a little too much combat in the middle of the game. Infamous on the other hand, felt very repetitive, limited in scope, and didn't have an engaging story line/characters to pull you in.

It won't do any where close to what uncharted 2 accomplished. Uncharted 2 is perhaps the most polished, engaging, and brilliant game we will see this gen.

Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made

No, and it doesn't need to be!

... however... it's a PS3 exclusive. Most likely we're gonna hype it up like the second coming of christ, anyway...

Though I must say, inFamous also had its share of hype, and it does have a following. Although Uncharted had more hype and definitely has a bigger following.

Don't know the definition of "true" but its like GTA. Three islands that unlock as the story goes, but besides that, you can pretty much access everything.. even more so being heavily focused on the vertical aspects of an open world.

Ok. So is the guy joking above, BladeofGod saying "no it's very linear"?

Yeah that's open world. But can I go back to areas I have finished? And is there respawned enemies there or what?

I think this video showcase the open world quite good. You can climb prety much everything in that video. The only thing that is linear is the underground. And yes, you can go back to places you've been and enemies will respawn to a certain point. But you kinda clean up the city during the story, so there will be far less enemies than it is when you start off. But there's always some enemies lurking around. And if you've played as evil, most civilians will hate you and toss rocks at you.. so i guess you could call them enemies aswell :D

Its possible, Infamous is truly a superb game. I can't believe sales are not better then they are. I have prototype and Infamous, and In my opinion Infamous is so much better then Prototype its not even funny. Prototype got real rapedative, Infamous always something different going on, and the total game is over 40 hours long.

Yes. Yes. Depends, if you've done the events in that area, you sorta claim it in a way. Once you do that for every where, there's very few enemies around the city.

BladeofGod's avatar is from inFamous btw.

i'd call infamous an openworld button basher,

not as tough on your wrists as games like GOW etc, thats the only button basher i've played

but infamous has great powers and moves, looks good, has comic book fmv/story and cole has voices in his head and is one hell of an athlete, man can he get around

The first Uncharted game had low hype and no one really cared too much about it.

false on both accounts there, pal.

In what way?

Both ways.  This game got quite the considerable hype when it was being released especially the posting just screenshots of it type threads.  People do care much about it as well.

I never really noticed the hype.. but fair enought it might've been there on different sites throughout the web. But whenever one talks about the game with people who haven't played it they all seem to think its just a tomb raider wannabe, generic, uninteresting and so on. And late adopters usually goes from no expectations whatsoever to being really surprised how good the game is. And all this imo makes it feel as if at first no one really cared about the game. It had what.. opening week of 100k or something.

And so both hype and fans elevated after the game was released due to bundles and word of mouth.
