Don't bother with dual booting. Get 8GB of ram in your machine and eihter run Windows in a virtual machine under linux, or run Linux in a virtual machine under Windows. Rebooting is too much of a pain.

My first linux was slackware, propably around 1997 or so. Nowadays I prefer Win7 over the likes of ubuntu. Linux has lost what was so good about it.
I've been an on and off Linux user since 2003 when I first installed Fedora Core 1. I mostly use Ubuntu now for simplicity even though I prefer Fedora's more bleeding edge style. I use Fedora at school since that is what is on the labs there. Laptop is exclusively Linux, desktop has Windows installed for gaming (which I am actually on right now).
My machine dual boots Ubuntu 9.04 and Win XP. I spend 80% of my time in ubuntu, I only use Windows to play games, everything else is done in ubuntu.

So what about you guys? I know there's like Soleron with his "pm me about Ubuntu" sig; who else? |
HIS NAME IS Game_boy!!!! IT'S Game_boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cries*
I used to use Ubuntu. But I wasn't very adept with it.

I also have a XP Desktop which i tried to install Ubuntu on through a partition, but couldn't get the display to work - I use a 29inch HD TV as a monitor. Shame, it would be awesome. Any ideas on how i can get it to work? Nvidia Gforce 6600 and 29inch HD display. |
System -> Preferences -> Nvidia settings manager? If you're using the nvidia driver an option in there should let you add a 2nd monitor.
Otherwise, System -> Preferences -> Display should handle it.

Hey, is there a way for Ubuntu 9.10 to identify the Huawei HSDPA USB Modem E226 as a modem instead of a CD-Rom drive as it appears on Windows(for installing the drivers) ?
Ubuntu 9.04 didnt have this problem, but Ubuntu 9.10 has it, i dont know how to solve :(

Problem is, its the only display. I'll have to borrow a monitor from someone.

Try booting into a command line only to see if that displays. It would mean editing your xorg.conf manually though if you can't get a GUI.
I've been using Ubuntu since 2004. I love it. I've loved how much it's progressed, and I love that it's not Windows. I can still play games, through Wine, I run my MUD off it, a webserver, I do daily back ups of my code with a cronjob and it's not Windows. Did I mention it's not Windows? Because it isn't.
I'm also with Soleron. If all you do is play facebook, e-mail, surf the internet, youtube, Linux is perfect for you. Once you start needing specific programs/tools it becomes increasingly harder to NOT use Windows, but I refuse to go back regardless, I will always find a way or just go without. :D
