System -> Preferences -> Nvidia settings manager? If you're using the nvidia driver an option in there should let you add a 2nd monitor.

Otherwise, System -> Preferences -> Display should handle it.

Problem is, its the only display. I'll have to borrow a monitor from someone.

Try booting into a command line only to see if that displays. It would mean editing your xorg.conf manually though if you can't get a GUI.
