Just checked out some numbers and the only old PS3 game that has a shot at 1mil is MGS4. I don't see that happening at least this year. It still might be a possibility.

6 million is basically garunteed

PS3 was close to 4.5mil at the end of 2009 and it sold close to 1.8 mil in 2009. Even if it has a decline of 15%, it would still make 6 mil PS3 in Japan by Jan 2011. That's certainly achievable.

On the other hand, it is highly unlikely for PS3 to have 3 new million sellers.

GT5 has a good chance.

FF 13 Versus would do it if it's released.

FF14 is not likely since it's a MMO.

Yakuza 4 is also unlikely since 3 was at 500K and I don't think the series suddenly gained popularity to double its sale.

I remember a long while back, some posters predicing the PS3 wouldn't even reach 5 million lifetime in Japan.

Nothing seems certain this gen.

GT5 and FFXIV wont make the million IMO. The PS3 on the other hand has a good shot at 6 million + by that time, and Versus is the only game that has the potential to do a million, tough even that is not guaranteed. Still GT5 could easily do 800k, Yakuza 4 600k, and a couple of other games should clear half million...

I think the PS3 will hit 6 million before the end of this year. Remember that Front Mission Evolved, Star Ocean 4, Versus XIII and The Last Guardian all come this year.
