Fable 3 will have a hard time making the top 10 list because is is 360 only. Other multi-platform RPGs (ME 2, FFXIII) will sell much more.
|
Agreed, it also releases later in the year while the biggest RPGs next year seem set for Q1. I think it'll do well for the genre though, definitely within the top 10 RPGs for 2010. The only RPGs I even expect to sell better next year are (in order) WOW Catacylsm, Pokemon HG/SS, FFXIII, ME2, Diablo 3 and (maybe) DQIX and KH BBS.

Fallout: New Vegas should be out this year as well, and should outsell Fable 3.

Yeah, it might too actually. Looking it up, turns out D3 is 2011 too. Anything else I'm forgetting?
Genre targeted lists might be fun to guesstimate at... I'll give it a try...
Top 10 RPGs for 2010 (new releases only)
- World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (PC) Blizzard Entertainment (10m+)
- Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (DS) Nintendo / Game Freak / Creatures Inc. (8m+)
- Final Fantasy XIII (360/PS3) Square Enix (5m+)
- Mass Effect 2 (360/PC) EA Games / Bioware (3m+)
- Fallout: New Vegas (360/PC/PS3) Bethesda Softworks / Obsidian Entertainment (2.5m+)
- Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (DS) Square Enix / Level-5 (2m+)
- Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP) Square Enix (2m+)
- Fable III (360) Microsoft Game Studios / Lionhead Studios (2m+)
- Nunokuni: The Another World (DS) Level-5 / Studio Ghibli (1.5m+)
- Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC) LucasArts / Bioware (1m+)
...anything else? Maybe MH3? FF Gaiden? FFXIV? Golden Sun DS? Agito/Versus (if they make it)?

Decent list, but there's a few glaring omissions:
- SW: Old Republic will be F2P, so you won't have to buy it.
- You're missing Guild Wars 2, which will sell millions. The first GW + expansions sold over 6 millions. So I can see GW2 selling atleast 3 million.
- The Witcher 2 will probably sell maybe around 2 millions (which is great for them).
- All Point Bulletin could become a huge success, but it's every hard to predict, although it has had alot of hype so far.
- Star Trek Online is selling great on Steam, currently placing in 1st and 2nd top spots there. I can see it go for millions if it proves to be a great game.
My list would be something like:
- World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (PC) Blizzard Entertainment (10m+)
- Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (DS) Nintendo / Game Freak / Creatures Inc. (8m+)
- Final Fantasy XIII (360/PS3) Square Enix (5m+)
- Mass Effect 2 (360/PC) EA Games / Bioware (3m+)
- Guild Wars 2 (PC) NCSoft / ArenaNet (3m+)
- All Points Bulletin (PC) (2.5m+)
- Fallout: New Vegas (360/PC/PS3) Bethesda Softworks / Obsidian Entertainment (2.5m+)
- Fable III (360) Microsoft Game Studios / Lionhead Studios (2.5m+)
- Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (DS) Square Enix / Level-5 (2m+)
- The Witcher (PC) CDProjekt (2m+)

Thanks! Didn't know about Star Wars TLO, and totally forgot about GW2. I'd even bump that to number 4 probably.
Witcher's another good one (with a very dedicated audience), and I hadn't even considered Star Trek but I can definitely see the potential there. I thought APB was just a MMO though, not an MMORPG?
Another game to consider might be Inazmua Eleven, which is getting a western release timed with the World Cup this year and probably benefitting from Nintendo distribution. Depending on how it's handled, I could see it being as big as Pokemon in Europe...
