If you had to rank each year a system was relevant (getting interesting new games), how would you do it?

For instance, with the current systems I think most people (Americans) would say something like this:

DS: 2007 > 2008 > 2006 > 2009 > 2005 > 2010 > 2004

PSP: 2006 > 2007 > 2009 > 2008 > 2010 > 2005

Wii: 2010 > 2009 > 2007 > 2008 > 2006

X360: 2007 > 2008 > 2009 > 2010 > 2006 > 2005

PS3: 2009 > 2010 > 2008 > 2007 > 2006

Personally, I'd go something like this for systems I've owned:

Wii: 2010 > 2009 > 2007 > 2006 > 2008 (will probably end up playing at least from 2006-2012)

DS: 2006 > 2007 > 2005 > 2008 > 2009 > 2010 > 2004 (will probably end up playing 2004-2011)

GC: 2002 > 2001 > 2005 > 2003 > 2004 > 2006 (played 2001-2006)

DC: 2000 > 1999 > 2001 (played 1999-2001)

N64: 1997 > 1998 > 1996 > 1999 > 2000 > 2001 (played 1996-2001)

Genesis: 1993 > 1992 > 1994 > 1995 > 1996 (played 1992-1996)

GBA: 2004 > 2003 > 2002 > 2005 (played from 2002-2005)

Id have to agree with your list for the most part, but I would bump whichever year Metroid Prime 3 was released for wii. Far and away the best game on that system. Also, you've never owned a nonnintendo system besides genesis? You're missing out.

Oh I don't know... for Wii I guess I'd go 2010>2009>2008>2007>2006. I guess that means I'm a jerk though.

Not sure about DS, and I've always dipped in and out of PC gaming my whole life. But I know the best years of gaming overall were 1988 and 1998. I know that much. 2010 looks like it could be in the top 3 though, with the new Mario/Zelda/Halo/FinalFantasy/GranTurismo/Metroid/Natal/Vitality/wtfbbq all at once.

If I had to say for the 360:

2010>2007>2008>2009>2006>2005

imo, the only major Xbox franchise not currently lined up for this year (which could change, but I doubt it) is Gears of War.

for the Wii i'd say 2008 > 2010 > 2006 > 2009 > 2007
2007 was a low year and 2006 alone for Zelda TP.

For the PS3 i'd say 2010 > 2009 > 2008
only had it since then but it's fast becoming my favourite consoles these days.

For the 360
2007 > 2008 > 2010 > 2009 > 2006
Again only owned it since then

2010 for all current consoles.

GT5, God of War III, Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian and ModNation Racers for PS3.

Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, Zelda Wii, No More Heroes 2, Epic Mickey and Monster Hunter 3 for Wii.

Alan Wake, Halo Reach, Fable III, Crackdown 2 and Mass Effect 2 for 360.

This year is amazing.

I'd say 2010 for all consoles, AND handhelds.

Well for the Wii I'd go like this:

2007>2009>2008>2006

I mean 2007 was really epic, it had Galaxy and Prime along with things like Super Paper Mario, Excite Truck, RE 4 and many others. 2006 had the launch titles which were great, but not enough to top the other years. 2009 had WSR and NSMBW above many others, 2008 had Kart and SSBB so these two years are close I guess.

Of course 2010 looks like it will become the best year with Mario, Zelda and Metroid along with many great games from third parties.

Wii:
2008 > 2009 > 2007 > 2006
We'll see where 2010 will end up.

PS3:
2009 > 2008 > 2007 > 2006
Funny enough 2010 has a chance for first place.

I'm not sure for PSP and other gen's systems.

Wii:

2010 > 2007 > 2008 > 2009 > 2006

DS:

I can't even remember the release dates for most games.. So Ima guess :P

2007 > 2006 > 2009 > 2008 > 2005 > 2010

PS3:

2010 > 2009 > 2008 > 2007 > 2006

GCN:

2002 > 2003 > 2005 > 2004 > 2006 (I think)

Anything before that is a blur...
