Playstation 3: 13.0-14.5 million
Xbox 360: 8.7-10.3 million
Nintendo Wii: 18-22 million

19mil for wii
11mil for ps3
9mil for 360

Hmm. I think both 360 and PS3 will sell a bit more, Wii quite a lot more. No exact figures, but hey, just my 2 cents.

I think it'll be something along these lines;

Wii: 17 million, placing the year end lt sales at roughly 82 million, seeing the yoy drop before and during holidays (the record week not withstanding) leads me to believe it has peaked and is on its way down. I grossly overshot my 2009 prediction on the Wii and guessed 72 million by years end and I was on the conservative end of the scale when I made the call in December 2008. Won't make that mistake again.

360: 9 million, placing the year end lt sales at roughly 46 million, it'll have a good year but I do think it has peaked as well since it is a full year older on the market and prices are really, really low already. Predicted 36 million by years end of 2009 and ended up pretty damn near and I'm confident that this number is also quite close.

PS3: 14 million, placing the year end lt sales at roughly 45 million, the best year it will ever have but not by oodles or miles, FFXIII and finally GT5 will have completed the release slate of the flagship titles from previous gens and leave decent sustained hardware sales this year I think. Hit the nail on the head by predicting 31 million lt sales by end of 2009, a feat which was not only deemed impossible at the time (December 2008) but would make people point and laugh.

PSP: 7 million, placing year end lt sales at roughly 62 million, going down, down down. Missed my 2009 prediction by 4 million, thinking it would sell 59 by years end. I misjudged the impact the new version (s) would have and the importance of the surge in Japanese sales.

DS: 19 million, placing year end lt sales at roughly 142 million and damn near best selling console ever which it will cross shortly after that, finally settling down and starting to slow after many years of not only thrashing anything and anyone opposing it but also most people's expectations. Missed this by 2.5-3 million (guessed 126 million by years end 2009), not precise but still a whole lot closer than my Wii prediction.

To sum up, by years end;

Wii: 82 million

360: 46 million

PS3: 45 million

PSP: 62 million

DS: 142 million

Those predictions looks very accurate and not ridicilous, but I do expect wii to top 83 million instead of 82 million, but 82 million is still a high number and Wii should top 95 million before 2012.

I expect Wii to be roughly flat for Q1, maybe with moderate YoY gains, on the strength of NSMB. Q2 should have significant YoY gains as I don't see the same horrific decline happening at that time of year this time, again on the strength of NSMB. NSMB won't do much to keep Wii up in the second half of the year though, so what happens in Q3 will depend upon Nintendo's Q1/Q2 lineup*, and what happens in Q4 will depend on the Q3/Q4 lineup. I think it'll be good enough to be flat at least, so overall I think we'll have moderate YoY growth for Wii. I'll go with 23 Mill

PS3 should have nice strong YoY gains going into 2010, without a price cut that should reverse as the year ends, but it could last three quarters. If Microsoft cuts their price in or before summer, it won't. Some games will boost hardware on various weeks, but that happens every year and I don't see 2010 having more than before. Overall I think they'll have a slightly worse year since they shouldn't have a strong 2010 holiday. Just under 12 Million.

360 will be weak at the beginning of the year, eventually they'll cut their price, but the console is many years old now and the trend won't reverse. Somewhat over 9 million.

*I expect slow reactions from the market to major software, outside of the holidays

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I'd go with.
Wii- 25 million (very strong line up, plus NSMBW will keep monumentum going through Q1)
PS3- 14 million (Again strong line-up should help it in sales)
360- 13-16million (Natal, if it's a big hit could be as high as 16 milion)

nsmbw was not that big of a console movie. zelda on the other handd will sway more hardcore gamers and thats what the wii needs. its got all the kiddies, mommies, dads, girls everythign but the hardcore masses. it can do it.

Uh...you're kidding me right. Please tell me you're kidding. Wii had record sales this year, and you think the Wii would be as high as it was in Japan if it weren't for NSMBW?

For one week. Down yoy otherwise, even in the last quarter after price cut, black edition, motion +, Sports Resort and a massive add campaign (I've never seen so many videogame adds my entire life, this holiday season was really something else).
