This gen = PSP, DS, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

Last gen = PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance/Colour

for me:

My favorite ones are Mario, MGS, GT, FF & GTA

MGS -- We have MGS4 Which is the BEST GAME EVER BUT the PSP ones were a disappointment compared to the GBA ones so OVERALL MGS as a franchise is lower than last gen. but rising & peace walker can change this

GT -- I can't comment yet

FF -- I can't comment yet, but from Japanese impressions its an FFX with better story characters & gameplay, but worse music....so it will 99% be a better gen for FF.........FF7:CC, Dissidia, FF4 DS already make it almost better than last gen's FF experience imo

GTA -- MUCH WORSE........the epic days of GTA:SA & so on seem to be gone!

Mario -- FAR FAR BETTER.....Super Mario Galaxy RULES, Sunshine didn't rule!

MY favourite franchise is Uncharted, so...

Halo - On Par - Halo 3 wasn't as good as CE or 2 but Halo Wars and ODST make up for it.

Mortal Kombat - Worse - only one game so far, but it just didn't hook me in like Deception did.

Burnout - On Par - Revenge was released on 360, so it just about passes, Paradise was not my thing.

GTA - Better - GTAIV and the DLC are my favourite.

Splinter Cell - Worse - Only one game to speak of so far and it's pretty bad, but Conviction is gonna change that!!!!

Metal Gear Solid: MGS4 was amazing, pretty much self explanatory.

Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy XIII is probably my favorite one since IX.

Grand Theft Auto: GTA4 was garbage, that is all.

Tales series: Tales of Vesperia > all the others.

Mario: Mario Galaxy is my favorite Mario game, but all the other Mario games this gen, I dislike.

I'll have a go:

Elder Scrolls: Overall I think Oblivion was superior to Morrowind, although I liked the weird art and architecture in Morrowind. However, I thought the quests were improved and the fighting system was better. Also, mods on Oblivion have been amazing.

MGS: Difficult to say. 4 is definately better than 2, but better than 3, not sure.

Final Fantasy: It's not out in EU yet so better last gen :P

Tomb Raider: Hasn't really moved on much from last gen, but it concentrated more on platforming than shooting which is where its strength lies, so yeah, improved from last gen.

Fallout: Well, last gen there wasn't a proper Fallout game so I'd say a definite improvement!

GTA: Much worse. They made it far too serious and it had less features than San Andreas. I wanted to fly a Jet!

Far Cry: Much better last gen. This gens iteration was very poor.

Neverwinter Nights: 1 = better than 2

Street Fighter = IV = humnmnmn... TatvsCap = MUCH BETTER

Tomb Raider = Poor Tomb Raider Underworld.. Aniversary = MUCH BETTER

Crystal Chronicles = Crystal Bearers = MUCH WORSE (On DS = Better)

Final Fantasy = MUCH WORSE

Tales of = Vesperia humnmnmn... Symphonia 2 = Better, Graces = MUCH BETTER

Metroid = MUCH BETTER

Smash Bros = MUCH BETTER

Shakira = MUUUUUCH BETTEEEEERRRRR SOOOOO HOOOTTTT *.*

Metal Gear Solid - Worse - MGS4 was awful. The gameplay was good (would've been better without the Drebin points), but Kojima ruined the story. Nanomachines being the answer to everything was a complete joke. Also Otacon crying over a one night stand and Akiba & Meryl taking out the wave of Frogs were just classic Hollywood cheesiness. Portable Ops was okay; I did enjoy the comic-style cutscenes.

Final Fantasy - Worse - Dissidia was crap, and Crisis Core is one of the worst games I've played this gen. The dialogue is freaking laughable; it's gothic-poetry badness. As for the gameplay, all you have to do is press X. Hell, Zack will even run up to the enemy by himself. The encounter rates were predictable and annoying. It's annoying when you take a few steps to the side to get to the treasure, but when you go back to where you were, you get sunk into a battle. The DMW was a dumb feature. This thing enters the modulation phase every five seconds during a boss battle. You have no control over it, and it felt like the game was the one playing the game. I don't like what I'm hearing about FFXIII.

Silent Hill - Worse - Didn't like Origins. Homecoming was alright, but it wasn't as great as the first three games. Haven't played Shattered Memories yet.

Mario - Better - Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games I've played this gen. Can't wait for the sequel.

Shin Megami Tensei - can't really say - I enjoyed Devil Survivor a lot, whole lot more than Persona 4. I didn't like what they did with the Persona remake - new artsyle, music. Really excited for Strange Journey though. Finally, the spiritual successor to Nocturne is coming.

Viva Pinata- Didn't exist last gen

Mario- Galaxy- doesn't compare even to 64

Bano-Kazooie- Wasn't around last gen, but is much better then the N64 ones

Super Smash Bros- Worse. Melee just seemed more balanced

Burnout- Much worse. Lack of splitscreen=fail!

Pretty much agree with this guy, and I rarely share his views. Excluding Silent hill since I don't really play that series.

Tales - A step down currently, but with graces it might be even.
Symphonia and Abyss Vs Vesperia currently.

Ace Combat - About the same but lack of Ace Combat 7 is really annoying.

Resident Evil - Much worse, but I am not going to go on a rant about this one.
