SSJ …

Personally, I would argue that you were way (WAY) too young to critically evaluate the SNES and Genesis being that you would have been too young to comprehend most of the games when they were released.

Beyond that, Sega made many awful mistakes which were far worse than anything Nintendo ever did which is why they left the console market. The Sega CD was an unnecessary add-on which was poorly supported, which saw its life ended by the release of the 32x which was an unnecessary add-on that was poorly supported, and that was followed by the Sega Saturn which was expensive, poorly supported and died early from lack of support. By the time the Dreamcast was released no one would touch another Sega product.

Somebody up for a bet? I say, combined sales from next week until first january week of the PS3 will be bigger than 360 (WW)

I'd gladly take that bet. The PS3 will be lucky to have a single week from now until January 1 where it outsells the Xbox 360 world wide.

I'm taliking about combined of the rest of the year, starting next week. what do you want for the wager?

I take that bet... PS3 WW sales (Starting next week, until january 1) will not be bigger than xbox 360 WW sales...

I'd be up for that bet as well.

The 360 will continue to outperform the PS3 in the US - sales in Europe are effectively deadlocked - and the 360 has picked up unexpected ground in Japan.

The final nail(s) in the coffin with be continued strong sales of Guitar Hero, the launch of Assassins Creed (360 doing a lot better) - and then to top things off - Mass Effect.

The PS3 will pull back some ground in the US in the coming weeks - but it won't be sustained, and the 360 will continue to outperform.

...

Sony's best chance for a surprise, is for PS3 sales to jump to 80k-100k this coming week in Japan - and stay high throughout the holidays.

ssj12: you do know that nintendo fans had to deal with it because Nintendo pissed off most 3rd party devs right..

Yeah I know, but does that change the fact that we had to deal with it?

nope, just shows you stuck with the bad guy of the industry. Why do you think now even though Sony is in last place this gen at the moment 3rd parties are willing to stick with Sony if Sony asks them to continue making games?

How's Nintendo the bad guy in industry? They practically invented the industry in the first place (after Atari screwed it up). You're probably too young too have grown up with Nintendo.

I don't see where you're heading anyway. I said that Ninetendo fans had to deal with the negativism for a long time. Sony fans are only 1 year in and complain already. You try to spin this somehow to 3rd parties, which isn't a really smart idea considering almost all 3rd party games that aren't MGS and FF are being multiplatform now.

If you want to be tough, why don't you take my bet about GTAIV a few posts back?

I'm 20. I own an NES, SNES, Atari 2600, Commidore 64, Geneis, Saturn, Dreamcast. Honestly SEGA shouldnt have been the one who died back in the day. It should have been Nintendo. Sega had a much better product. Anyways...

I'm meaning third parties as them not ditching Sony completely.

And no I already have a bet with Naz. Which.. idk if I'm going to win =/ FF7:CC isnt selling as I thought but its still doing ok I still have a shot.

So you started playing video games at around 1993 I am guessing, at the very earliest. The Super Nintendo was just at its infancy along with the Genesis. So you are one of those rare people that went retro and played old games. Not the same man. Growing up with games is very different from going back and playing old games.

Nintendo should have died? Kinda hard when you're making money. I didn't want either of them to die. Sega was awesome.

Seriously, if Nintendo died, all we'd be playing are crappy FPS or FPS derivatives.

PS1 and PS2 were never ever called diasters they were always praised as the best thing as sliced bread, their sales never considered anything close to disasterous,
People believed the hype on both of them, this time the hype fell through and couldn't save it.

In 2000-2001 everyone was under the impression that PS2 sales will suck, that xbox and Nintendo will win the generation.

Example:

Don't buy that PlayStation

http://archive.salon.com/tech/log/2000/10/27/playstation_rant/index.html

I am not saying that the PS3 will end like the PS2 did I am just saying that I hear a lot of the same stuff like last generation and PS2 had a concurrent SEGA Dreamcast.

Edit: and it annoys me that people forget the DC. It is the perfect example of a console with fucking bad sales but with good games that lot of DC owners never will forgot.

"Sony is also under the mistaken impression that including the ability to play DVD movies is a huge selling point. But true technophiles and hardcore gamers probably already have DVD drives. I'm a good case in point. I already own a Sony DVD player, so I could not care less if the $299 PS2 can play movies. I'd rather pay less and get a machine that just plays games instead."

I want to say i find this quote ironic but there has to be a better word for to describe this anyone?

The hatred for Sony and the PS3 is just amazing on this site, i'm not sure how you wii/360 fans can sleep at night knowing people are playing the PS3 :P

Wait, people are actually playing games on the PS3??

I thought PS3 owners just sat around waiting for games to finally come out.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

He didn't say playing games, he just said playing.

You can't be serious...

You can't be serious...

Why not? They usually head to head. I say that will be a close call in the end:

Ok, a lot of people wanna bet here, so I'll make it that way.

Conditions:

In the time frame from week ending 10th November to week ending 5th January the PS3 units sold>360 units sold world wide combined. A lot of people want to bet here, so I'll say we make it a one week of forum Signature use (common sense, nothing offensive). If I'll loose, every taker can choose it, beginning with the first taker. (So I could end up with some weeks Signature of others).

Every one want to take that bet, write me a PM, I will do it on my forum Signature the second the first taker arrives.

Who won will be determined on Feb. 11. That will be enough time to see all may comming corrections for the database. So knowbody can cry afterwards if the winner changes.
