What annoys me is when RPG games that i love like Fallout or Mass Effect force you to play them as a shooter, just to widen their appeal to the public.

Fallout 3 had VATS. If you used nothing but VATS you never had to 'play it like a shooter'. For all intents and purposes Fallout 3 could be played like it had an ATB system from Final Fantasy. You just have to be more liberal with your stims. Although I still think its fun killing >80% using a snipe to the head before it even knew you existed.

Meh, if people like 'em, that's okay. However I do think there are too many FPS games coming out nowadays, the vast majority being carbon copies on one another.

I got MW2 for Christmas and am just now playing it with suprisingly little enthusiasm. I think part of is I just got done playing Demon's Souls, which I completely and totally loved. But, yeah, the FPS genre seems very "simple" to me right now....

Yuh know, I think I went full circle with FPSs
After being my main genre, for years now I've been avoiding it and I'm only now feeling like getting back into it again.
Maybe you need a nice long break too.
