For me single player > online multi-player > local multi-player
Kinda depends on the genre too.
An FPS that doesn't have good online multi-player better have a kick ass story or I wont buy it. I mean whats the point of an FPS if I can't shoot other people in the face? Shooting NPCs in the face is boring, they don't even bitch and whine that i'm smashing their dreams.
RPGs (the only other genre I play pretty much) on the other hand can go either way. There is nothing better than a stellar MMORPG. I played one character in EQ for >100 days, as in actual play time. Very few single player RPGs can get me to play a single game for >100 hours. Most of the time though I want nothing more than to sit down and play an RPG by myself.
Hmmmm...single player as that's a deeper and a more richer experiance though I think the fact that me and my younger bro share LIVE (he's on it far more than me so most of the friends are his) probably has something to do with it too.
offline co-op (splitscreen + system link) > singleplayer >>>>>>>> multiplayer
Local multiplayer with friends > single player. Outside of that, I prefer single player.
On XBL multiplayer is usually just me losing a match and getting teabagged or me beating someone while they call me a n***** or f***** and yanks the ethernet cord out of their system before the win registers. The combination of overly sore winner and losers has turned me off to it unless it's the rare occasion where I play with someone I actually know in real life.
All in all I enjoy single player the most, with the exception of some awesome coop games.
Only do multiplayer on the PC basicly. Ive done some fatprincess, madden, ufc, uncharted, gears online. But non of them really got me hooked. So i do all my MP on the PC where the experience is better imo, and the interaction with other people is easier.
It depends on the game, but I find myself liking more single player games. If the games have multiplayers, I consider it a bonus.
The only game I play online on my PS3 to be honest to this day is Street Fighter IV.
Other than that, the only time I enjoy playing online or offline multiplayers is with my friends.
At some point, something must have come from nothing...
...nothing can come from nothing...
