Winning scrub vs scrub fights is not evidence of anything.  You've obviously never played a good player making such statements and you clearly fail to understand why such things not being possible in a Wii version would completely ruin the game, making a Wii port worthless.

well considering the xbox 360 and ps3 both have bad controllers for fighters as well isn't this sort of a moot point, people either buy arcade sticks or learn to play around the missing attacks, personally I only use the medium attacks if I want the mid speed special, the medium attack hits where I want it to, or it is part of a combo, (then again I always played King of Fighters (not XII) so playing with 4 buttons out of habbit, cd strikes don't do much in street fighter)

My god even more ignorance.  Play around the missing attacks?   There are none for 360 or PS3 because the game was designed for them, using their controllers.  What is so hard to understand a game designed around the HD consoles controls that have more buttons which are all easily accessable isn't going to work on the Wii with less buttons and ones that you cannot even reach and press together.

so the shoulder on the wii controllers are inaccessible but on the HD consoles they aren't, plus add on the worthless dpads and the hd controllers sink well below the classic controller in accessibility

street fighter is hardly designed around the HD consoles controllers, it is designed around a 6 button arcade layout, you know that,

Third party support on the Wii is good (better than GC or N64) the titles that are build from the ground for the console using its motion controls are extremely good. No More Heroes, Madworld , Tiger Woods to name a few.

Im happy that Wii is not receiving tons of downgraded Ports from HD consoles, the ones that appear on the console are pretty bad like Dead Rising.

Some third parties are focused on making games that are very advanced graphically, that are guaranteed monster sales on the HD Twins. And thats where they put their resources and best teams, Wii is left with games that usually fund those "epic" efforts on other consoles, which is sad, because we havent seen a true blockbuster third party game on the Wii.

"the ones that appear on the console are pretty bad like Dead Rising."

That was one, and it was bashed before it even came out. And then Modern Warfare showed Wii doesn't make HD games bad, so that's not a reason not to port to the Wii.

Monster Hunter 3. The top selling third party game in Japanese home systems this generation.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

"Why do most third party publishers ignore the Wii completely?"

Because they would have to compete with Nintendo.

I've noticed several people forgetting about that game.  It probably has something to do with the fact that it isn't out in all regions yet.

Every list about quality, with a Hollywood licensed game, is pretty much failed list.

But since this obviously is a serious thread, (one of) the reason(s), as one of TheSources article pointed out, is the expected sales for a title, when breaking a certain number, games on HD platforms make more money.

If the games were ported to Wii, every copy sold instead of HD copy, would be lost money for the publishers. So, the approach MW had, porting it to Wii after the HD versions stopped selling, is better for the publisher.

Better question, instead of porting, would be why the games weren't made as Wii as the leading platform, since this would be the cheapest way to get the game on all three platforms. This seems to be how F1 2009 was made.

@Demonfox: Well, that's how the core market works. Any info released about a game works as hype for the game. A pic of Modern Warfare 3 or Halo 4 gets fanboys fapping around the message boards on the internet.

Yes, meanwhile they are playing Gears of War 1 or 2, Forza 3, Fable 2, InFamous, KZ2, Resistance Series, Uncharted series, etc,  various AAA multiplats like Bayonetta, AC2, Batman AA, FFXIII, with very little low quality or casual market games in between. With the exception of the mediocre launch game every system tends to get, the HD twins have constantly pumped out many quality titles that have kept their owners busy for quite a while. Whereas the vast majority is still playing Wii sports, SSBB, Mario Kart. Thank god NSMBW was released recently. That's what made the PS2 so great at the time. FFX was announced yet you had an amazing and extensive library to play throughout that entire period and that is what the Wii has lacked for the core gamer, but definitely delivered to the casual market, which isn't a bad thing since Ninty is laughing their way to the bank.

I know this topic has been done to death, and this guy has been banned....

But seriously?....

Some people don't give a flying duck about those games. Same thing for the Wii library

I was goign to mention this game in my post, but yeah it is not out everywhere yet , but the game is extremely succesful arleady. There is no dobut that any game with high production values, good marketing , budget would sell amazingly on a system with Such large Userbase, and MH III is this sort of game (i wonder how will it do in NA/Others)

The most reasonable answer I can come up with is that publishers are trying not to develop a following for certain IPs and Genres on the Wii because they don’t want to splinter the market because the development costs on the HD consoles are so high the failure of one or two HD games could bankrupt some companies. The main reason I think this is because the DS (and often PSP and iPhone) receive versions of these games even though they generally sell terribly; and the Wii has demonstrated that it will reliably sell a million copies of a decent game with a well known IP, in a popular genre, if it is marketed moderately well; which is true of most of the games that publishers avoid releasing to the Wii.

Basically, many publishers (probably) believe that if they made a good version of some of these games for the Wii then they would sell 5 million copies across 3 platforms and 2 versions of the game rather than selling 5 million copies of the game across 2 platforms and one version of the game.

A very reasonable answer. However one concern I do have with what you posted is that the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 cross platform audience is infact very small. May I propose an additon to your response? I believe it may have something to do with a hardcore audience being there on the Wii but they do not value the software on the platform and a huge proportion of them simply pirate the games. This comes from the piracy statistics showing HOTD: OVerkill had as high piracy rates on the Wii as MW2 on 360, which means of the core userbase on the Wii a much higher proportion don't buy any titles so the actual viable core audience is much lower.

Tease.

I don't think it should be ignored that the treatment of the Wii this generation is nothing less than a tragedy for gamers. Whatever your take on the Wii it cannot be discounted that we're about 2-3 years behind where we ought to have been in terms of actually taking advantage of a new interface and integrating in seamlessly into games. The fact they haven't even cracked pointer control in FPS games on the Wii is testament to this.
