PS3 in 2010 will have a much better year in terms of software compared to 2009.

So will Wii, therefore, if Wii won in 2009, it will win in 2010

What kind of logic is that?! Sorry but the PS3 lineup up till now is better for 2010, GT5+ FF versus+ Yakuza+ most 3rd party 200k+ sellers vs what? we have Zelda Wii and SMG2(both arent that influential in japan anymore). Sorry Avinash but sometimes i feel you're just out there to annoy people

ROFL. another funny comment, lets see NSMB Wii will probably outsell most of those PS3 games combined on its own in 2010, the Vitality sensor will outsell pretty much all of them, combined, so yeah, keep telling yourself PS3 has the better lineup ROFL, and that's excluding all the other Wii games, all I need is those two to show you that Wii has the better lineup for 2010, ROFL, so try again.

Oh man you conviced me when you ROFL 3 times. I think both your comments are way more worthy for being laughed at.

i don't think so... and this should have been a yes or no poll since no ranges for little or a lot were given.

didn't vote.

Well, given that both sides seem to be using fanboy logic, the replies seem to go together. People have been saying since 2007 that Game X will make the PS3 sell better. In all cases, it's only caused sales spikes, NOT long-term effects. Likewise, as for which lineup is "better", that comes down to sheer opinion. What it comes down to is who has momentum and who can keep it. Nintendo lost it last year, at the same time, the PS3 got it from the slim, yet the Wii still outsold the PS3. Right now, the question lies in who can keep their current momentum better. The problem for Sony is that most of their games only cause spikes, rather than long-term effects. This makes it much harder for them to keep going. The only way I can see PS3 beating Wii in 2010 in Japan is if a few of the Jan-Mar games actually do create long-term effects, AND that Nintendo can't keep the Wii going from the NSMBWii release. I think if Sony wants to, they can try to push things with ads to try and create momentum, but Sony can't make Nintendo screw up. With the ball in Nintendo's court, and Iwata acknowledging past failures, I don't think they're giving up control. Sure, I may be wrong, and they do the wrong thing to try to keep moving forward, but that's not something Sony can control. If Sony wants a chance, they need to focus on themselves, and do something that compels long-term growth, rather than 2 weeks of surge.

I voted for no, by a lot, but it can be different if they get another price cut...........the difference would be "no, by a lot" will change to "no, by a little"

After double-checking Gran Turismo and NSMB Wii sales I can confidently say, "No, by a lot".

Sony did a great job in 2009 but there are no games as big as Final Fantasy XIII coming out and certainly no games as big as NSMB Wii which is still selling hundreds of thousands a week over there.

Gran Turismo will create a hardware spike which will result in much rejoicing from Sony fans but will not be enough to put PS3 ahead in the long run.

Well, for possible Wii 200k+ sellers there's...

  • Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles (Capcom)
  • Hoshi no Kirby (Nintendo)
  • Metroid: Other M (Nintendo)
  • Sengoku Basara 3 (Capcom)
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo)
  • Vitality Sensor software (Nintendo)
  • Zelda no Densetsu (Nintendo)

...and there's continued sales for (ie: older games that could move 200k+ in 2010)...

  • Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo)
  • PokePark Wii: Pikachu no Daibouken (Pokemon)
  • Taiko no Tatsujin Wii 2 (Namco)
  • Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
  • Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)

...I'd agree Wii's 2010 doesn't look as strong as their 2009 yet, but I'm also expecting quite a few more key games to come from Nintendo's close partners (Level 5, Square Enix, Capcom, Namco Bandai, etc).  I'd say the same for PS3 though, this year's lineup isn't yet as strong as 2009 (FFXIII, RE5, Vesperia, Yakuza 3, Gundam, SF4, etc)

Then you need to think again, because obviously your earlier thoughts are lacking if you think mine are more laughable, here it is straight up, Wii has better sustaining software, and better potential software, the best game in PS3's stable is GT5 not that impressive saleswise when compared to what the Wii has already released that is still selling, and what will be coming out this year.  Nothing you name has the potential to sell as much as the Wii vitality sensor, nor does anything you name have the staying power of NSMB Wii, plain and simple, nothing in the PS3 lineup can possibly result in PS3 selling more for the year than the Wii.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Thats what i'm saying, lets not state anything before we really get an idea about the releases. We dont even know if the vitality sensor is gonna be a success or not, its not like everything Nintendo does turns to gold. Plus the idea is more of which games will drive sales rather than sell more. To me SMG2 wont drive sales, neither will metroid or RE. However even if Yakuza sells less than SMG, it will lift PS3 sales.

I also agree both lineups look weaker for now, but i have a feeling we're gonna get a few surprise announcements the next few months

I have to say maybe early 2009 that would have been a fat HELL NO! Thinks have def change and all the other companies know it. As the holiday season has ended so will the high sales of the Wii. The PS3 is on the come up so it will do great in 2010!

I agree that Wii has more sustaining software. But look what happened last year due to lack of software on the Wii, where as the PS3 is building up more momentum with constant releases. We know NSMB is amazing, but nintendo have to look past that, have a few surprising hits, and they do need 3rd party games to step in. You make it sound like the Wii destroyed the PS3 in 2009, when it was neck to neck till the last week of the year.

Anyways i dont mean to make trouble in the forums, u have ur opinion and i have mine. However if you keep expressing yourself the way you do, you're only gonna make enemies. I appologize for my outburst in any case, i take it back
