Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which Games Totally Blew You Away/ Delivered The Goods?

1. Zelda: Ocarina of Time: There is nothing more to be said of this masterpiece, just the fact alone that this game is in the majority of lists in this thread is a true testament to this games unparallel quality.

2. Shadow of the Colossus: This game was by far the biggest surprise ive ever had in gaming , I really had low expectation from this game I got as a gift and ive never been so wrong....the each colossi battles in this game was something to behold and were their own game in of themselves.

3.Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker: Cel-Shaded gaming done to perfection......this game carried the zelda formula and added a whole new dimension to it with an emphasis to exploration.

4.Bayonetta: This game my biggest surprise this gen....who knew that I game I didnt even give a second glance to would surpass GOW as the best hack n slash ever and also have better gameplay than DMC....while although the dialogue is cheesy the gameplay carries this game over all else in its genre. And the enemy design is outstanding.....the weak enemies look like they could be full fledge bosses in any other game.(BTW  get this game when it comes out this week)

5. Phoenix Wright: I cant choose one game in the series so ill just choose them all.......this series is special to me in that it has  the best dialogue  story and characters ive ever seen in a game (and nothing is more satisfying than hearing Phoenix yelling "Objection!!!" because you know some ownage will follow suite)

Ι think its MGS3. The story brought tears to my eyes. Epic game...

I'll come back and make my own list

But it's going to reveal a lot - a lot - about me.

In no particular preference order

1. Roller Coaster Tycoon - Great fun and learned a lot. Helped me decide my future career
2. Super Mario 64 - at 5 years old, I had never seen such vast and colorful worlds.
3. Super Smash Brothers Melee - Multiplayer mayhem at its finest. Helped get through awkward middle school years
4. Mario Kart Wii - Most addicting racing game ever. Over 600 hours logged in.
5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - The only game here I initially hated, but once I figured the game out, one of the greatest games unfolded to me.

1. Earthbound/Mother 3 - Never has an RPG had such humor and charm yet have so many deep thoughts all at the same time. IMO the two best games ever made.

2. Zelda LttP - Timeless gameplay meets flawless puzzle and dungeon design, probably the only game I could say is damn near perfect.

3. Starfox 64 - No not the most perfect game, but it was so addictive, some of the best replay value ever, and some of the most epic and corny lines to ever grace games. Do a barrel roll!

4. Final Fantasy IV - Never once have I ever been on the edge as much as this game, from the killer bosses, some of the best music in the series, drama and twists galore, the pacing was just spot on too.

5. Final Fantasy VII - While this would rank 3rd on my favorite FF game, the first time I played this game (note I did play 8 before this one) I was really blown away by the music, the settings, the energy the game had overall, it was really great.

6. Super Mario Bros 3 - Some of the best platforming ever mixed with one of the best world progressions, sure SMW beat it in size and secrets, but SMB3 has some of the most memorable levels and worlds period.

7. Silent Hill Shattered Memories - I wasn't really expecting to enjoy the game as much as I did, it was a complete surprise, the amount of work put into this game is simply remarkable, just the little details alone. The best game story this gen to me.

8. Fallout 3 - I heard a lot, I didn't really care for Oblivion, and everyone was calling it Oblivion with guns. But when I started playing through I found a really enjoyable experience that I just didn't expect.

I'll think up more later.

1.Half life 2 - The game I replayed more than 8 times
2.Uncharted 1 & 2 - No need to explain why
3.Sotc - My god first time seeing the huge collosus made me crap my pants, truely one of the best game I played
4.God of war 2 - Makes me want to replay it now just typing this
5.Xenogears - ahhhh classic

Super Mario Bros. - My first video game. I still go back and play it.

Super Mario Bros 3. - A huge improvement on the original and one of the greatest games of all time, in my opinion.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3/Sonic & Knuckles - Ohhh how many times I played this game. I still dust of the trusty Genesis to play this treasure.

007 GoldenEye- A game that needs no introduction, best FPS ever, and the only one I will play.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Amazing, ranked number one in countless "Best Games of All Time" Lists.

Final Fantasy IX - In my opinion the most underrated FF game to date, and my favorite. Great music, story and gameplay. A near perfect game.

Ratchet & Clank - Bought the game not expecting much at all and just completely surprised me, starting a beautiful new love for a great series.

Super Smash Bros. Melee - Played the 64 game, and liked it, but wasn't nearly as impressed as I was with this game. Logged countless hours with my friends and cousins.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - See above, but better.

Ha, yes!

"A man without a map isn't popular with the ladies."

Good ol' Earthbound.

Those are all the ones that come to mind. I am probably forgetting one or two.

I came in here expecting this to be about current generation games that delivered, and had a few games in mind. Instead I find an all-time list of games. I'm going to have to give this more thought. I'll be back later.

2. Goldeneye - Never played a game like it at the time, was blown away by the graphics and gameplay.

3. Mario RPG - Same sort of deal with Goldeneye, never really played an RPG before this, let alone an RPG in the Mario universe. Had so much fun playing through this game.

4. Secret of Mana - Epic RPG with amazing world, music, engrossing story, extremely fun multiplayer. Almost everything about it was perfection.

5. Everquest - First MMO I played and it delivered. I got countless hours of fun venturing and battling with friends. Some of my greatest times in gaming were in Everquest.

6. Starcraft - First RTS I played, and still my favorite to this day.

7. Oblivion - Completely epic RPG that surpassed my expectations.

8. Gears of War - Very fun and addictive game with great graphics, and one of the best TPS, with a great cover system. I still play it to this day.

9. Wii Sports - This is the game that game me that "fresh" feeling for games again that I hadn't truely felt since I first played Super Mario bros on NES. This was the game that sold me on motion controls.
