Forums - Microsoft Discussion - *I am looking into buying a 360 and need help!*

All of these questions can be answered by a little research on web, RROD issues e74 error. If you have a PS3 and like it , you should like a 360. Different exclusives. Do your own research all your info is out there. Different people have different opinions, that way you get the real deal. Look up the games for yourself, How in the world did you get -973.000 on vgchartz ?

Based on the questions you ask and the amount of time you've been gaming, you know the answers to these questions before you asked them. What's your game?

Don't worry about system defects, it has a standard 3 year warranty.

If you get one, get a model with a hard drive. Microsofts drives are extreamly expensive if you decide to get on later, and the DVD drive is very annoying. If you are playing a non installed game with low volume the thing will drive you insane.

This one is my personal opinion. If you want to play online, Xbox Live is slightly better than PSN, but you have to pay. Microsoft produced games are excelent online, and deliver a better experiance than most of the games on PS3, and all of the Wii games. If you enjoy story driven games, do not expect the quality you find on Wii, and PS3. In my experiance Gears of War 1 and 2 are the extent of great solo games on the 360 so far. However, next year Alan Wake and Splinter Cell: Conviction look to be well thought out solo games.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

People keep saying I am selling crap and that I know the answers to these questions already but I don't or I kind of wouldn't be asking!

Thanks to everyone who helped.

I don't know what I am going to do yet because I have a Wii and my brother has a PS3. I would play Wii more then 360 but play the 360 more than PS3. My brother would play PS3 more than 360 but play 360 more than wii so I don't know yet.

I need help with trying to buy the right 360 or not get one at all so please answer the following questions...

1. Does the 360 work for a long time/Does it break quickly?

2. Are the games fun/I only had a n64,Gamecube,Wii,Ps3 so will I enjoy the 360 games?

3. What is the Red Ring Of Death and does it happen offten/Can it be fixed?

*4*(Most important question to me) What is the difference between the Elite and Arcade/What are all the things the Elite can do that the Arcade can't?

Please help this is all new to me!

In truth I believe you hoped people would reply like this:

1. No, the X360 is very unreliable, it breaks quickly.

2. No, the games aren't very fun. As an old Nintendo owner you won't probably enjoy X360 games as they're mostly shooters.

3. RROD happens to most owners. I had 4 RRODs until I gave up and bought a PS3 instead. My friend has had 9 X360's that RROD.

4. The Arcade doesn't have a HDD, so you can't enjoy Xbox Live to it's full potential. And all games are forced to stream data from the DVD because MS decided that they must work on the Arcade. It was a big mistake by MS to make two so different SKUs in this gen.

Have you been living in a cave for the past three years?  Seriously, you did not know what RROD was before making that post?  Oh and in case you actually were living in a cave for awhile my aplogies and you might not be aware of a website called Google.  You can enter in search terms there and it'll help you find the information you've asked about in your post (oh and also about all the other things you likely missed before you came back to civilization).

Good luck!

overall it's actually cheaper to get the elite, way cheaper when you do the math.
the one thing that never gets pointed out about the RED RING OF DEATH is this.
it happens so often because 360 owners actually play their system
I got my RED RING OF DEATH during my vacation last year, I was averaging about 10 hours of game time per day
before that i would only play about 3 hours a day, so go figure
i'm not dogging on PS3, i'd like one, but cant' afford to buy games for 3 systems, but u will play your 360 more
especially if u like online gaming

my signature went on strike, it's demanding 3% raise

If have a PS3 already and are considering an Xbox360 than you are correct in your statement, You do need some serious help. I suggest you go see an astute psychiatrist.

Joking aside, the RROD still effect near 20% of all new systems, If i remember correctly. This should not be much of an issue due to the new 3 year warranty. It will just mean you will be out of a system for 4-6 weeks if it happens.

Not trying to start a war here but if you are picking between a PS3 or 360 Elite, I would recommend the PS3 for a variety of reasons. Free online (yet not as good as Live), wifi built in, blu-ray, great games (both exclusives/multi) the list goes on. The Elite is a great pick as well just trying to give you options and get the most bang for your buck.
