It is really quite simple - motion controls, Wii mote and dildos, suck for playing games.
Controller free UI, however, rocks the house when used appropriately.

Green-eyed Monsters
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
aaaahhhhhh just time will tell
This will all be an epic fail to the "gamers" out there since this would cuz alot of movement which these people dont like doing
Seece said: These threads are funny, so eager to serve crow without even an ounce of evidence. For all you know those people who hated motion control still might? I never though the main dislike of the wii was the motion control, more so the games that use it ... |
No, like most things, people would try the Wii and either go to the extreme. Loving it to death or hating it to death. Some people would understand that certain games didn't function well with the new interface (such as Soul Calibur Legends or Red Steel). But 9/10, if you have a faulty interface connected to a product, they're going to blame the product (wii and/or controller), not the game.
And in some ways, its not entirely their fault. While the Wiimote was a novel idea, it was somewhat weaker than it should have been. I mean, some developers, such as Armor Project with Dragon Quest Swords or AQ Interactive with Hajime no Ippo Wii tried to bring out good original concepts for the system early on that utilized concepts people have dreamed of in gaming for years (free movement swordplay or boxing). But the initial Wiimote was rather crude. It wasn't until the introduction of Wiimotion Plus that full realization of motion on the Wii was understood...but by now, many game companies aren't interested in working on the Wii.
The question is, will many companies even care to work on the Natal or Wand either. And even if they do, will gamers care to buy into the expensive secondary equipment to play it and find the games fun.

But when Microsoft or Sony comes out with a similar device on their own systems, those same people have to defend it because its on their favorite system and 'one upped' Nintendo. |
What same people? Without specifying your accusations are entirely meaningless since these could be entirely different groups. I for one didn't like motion controls on the Wii, and am hoping that motion controls don't become the main focus on the 360 or PS3 either. I have no intention on buying the PSwand and think it's a crappy idea.

I thought it was implied who I was taling about. The people who bash Nintendos controls as a 'gimmick' and 'stupid' while praising the Natal or Sony wand as a 'revolution in gaming'.
As for your comment about hoping it doesn't become the focus on the other systems, Microsoft has already been throwing around hints that they are going to try to make Natal their focus for the 360 in the future, as well as make it pre-bundled with their next system.

Who knows? Even though the Wii has a bigger userbase they stick to the HD consoles, I don't think companys shy away from wii because it's motion control, more because the wii doesn't cater to the audience they're best at making games for. If a decent motion shooter can be made on Natal/Wand, expect them all to jump on the bandwagon, and like I said, expect people to buy it, because they don't NOT like the wii because it's motion control, more so because the games don't fit what they want.
Well I don't own a 360 so I really only hope Natal isn't their main focus for the sake of my buddy Machina.
The point is, if you don't figure out exactly who did this then your accusation is meaningless. And that means you'd have to spend all day looking through people's histories which would be boring as hell.

To quote myself here on VGchartz from a few years ago:
"I would love to see a Wii-Mote like device for the PS3"
I think most of the criticism regarding the Wii actually relates to its low hardware specifications, not the Wii-mote control scheme idea for certain style games.
