Forums - Microsoft - 360 controllers break too easily

PS2 controllers are like glass.

I have one 360 controller where part of the grey area along the frontside of the controller is missing (How that happened, I don't know........) The other one has analog stick that is a little downwards, and makes you move on your own.

GC controllers were a little faulty too. Xbox 1 controllers stunk..............Damn. I need to take better care of my stuff!

Wavebirds were Veteran tough though......

I'd like to mention that the controller most likely to break is the Wii, although its not beacuse of the controller itself, its because its a motion controller and if you forget to wear the strap that sucker will fly! believe me...

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

I bought my 360 in December of 2005. My two controllers are four years old. No problems here. The worst controllers from a durability standpoint in my experience were the original (3 button) Sega Genesis controllers and the Dual Shock 2.

I remember beating the hell out of my SNES controllers, in fact I just looked and I think I saw teeth marks!

It seems like I stopped doing it after about 14 or 15 years of age though. Not sure why, I would say on avereage I was WAAAAY more angsty after that. Hmm. . .

I have a 360 controller that is 3 years old and has been through some beatings and still works. Last week I hit the floor once with my PS3 DS3 and the part where the shock mechanism is housed (where you hold) broke right off and the triggers on that side fell out.

Ugh are you for real? My 360 controller feels so nice and heavy so I'd hate to have it break on me pretty easily. Ive had 4 PS3 controllers (and I only need 2) because they break easily, I really don't wanna go through that with my 360.

One pound to the ground and it's FUBAR. I remember smashing my SNES controllers to the ground multiple times and they still work.

Damn FIFA 10 and it's horribly frustrating gameplay.

I used to beat my friend at every single game we played back on Sness. One day we played some super baseball and i got like 13 runs in one inning. He freaked out, slammed his forehead into the controller and completely broke it.

I never got why people did that at all. rofl

If you want something more reliable, get a company that has decades of electronics experience to design a better one, like Sony.

^Yeah, just throw the ps3 controller next time chrizum!

I've never had my 360 controller break and I've dropped mine a number of times. One time, I intentionally threw it against a wall in a fit of gamers rage. It still work fine.
