A lot on the list I agree with, but the 360 seems to be included just because it's the gaming press darling. There wasn't really anything defining given, except mentioning it did better than expected, and by that standard, the Wii and DS beat it by a mile.

Yeah, I don't agree with it being on there, but they didn't even really try to justify it.

They could have chose between PS2, Wii, and DS, yet they chose the 360. Wow just wow. I think the 360 is a great console and done a lot for gaming, but arguing that it defined more of the gaming industry this decade than the PS2, DS, or Wii is an argument that I would never want to defend.

why everybody ignore the dreamcast. they had online before the xbox.

I understand that they're an American web site so they don't care about the rest of the planet, and they probably love Gamerscores more than actual gaming innovations and revolutions, but I honestly don't see how something can define a decade if it can't sell in Japan.

The DS in particular (and the Wii in a somewhat different market) has chaged the way people look at games and forced developers into new paradigm shifts for game design. Nintendo changed the face of the industry in 2004.

Loved that thing.  Clogged up my phonelines and pissed off my whole family by plugging that in and playing Mortal Kombat online all the time.  I even beat a guy so bad he threatened to come over and kill me in the post-game text chat.

As for the honor given to the 360, don't get all sore about it just because its not YOUR system.  The 360 has had some of my most memorable moments gaming ever just because of the reasons mentioned in the article.  While there may have been online before the it, the 360 defined the experience to the point of standardizing it.  Thus it forever changed the landscape of gaming unlike any other console this decade.
