As I see it (and already wrote in the past, before it came out but also after) the relative lack of success of Graces is due to its coming out a week before FFXIII, the major jrpg of this generation. Any other timing would have brought on much better sales, IMO of course.

I'm more impressed how NSMB DS is returning from the dead; he is almost at the top 10 again! NSMB Wii effect goes far beyond the game and the Wii itself.

Best selling 2D nintendo FF sold 2.5 in Japan, not WW.

Worst selling 3D FF sold less than 2 in Japan.

NSMB i'm guessin sold a healthy 30-40k, and is on its way to 6 million in Japan. Man who would've thought that Mario 2D is still in this day and age and probably even more monstrous than before!

That's still almost a 2 mil distance between the two.

That is, again, between the least selling 3D FF, and the best selling 2D FF.

Not to say that i'd like a 2D FF, but even if it sold 2 million less than a 3D one, the cost difference between the two would probably offset that.

Indeed. I still say 3D FF is in decline and has fallen behind what 2D FF could achieve in Japan.
