Forums - Gaming - Dragon Age 'Return to Ostagar' DLC on 360, PC Jan. 5; PS3 'later in January'

BioWare and EA managed to release Dragon Age: Origins for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the same day, but PS3 owners won't get the same simultaneous treatment for the upcoming DLC.

The DLC package in question is entitled "Return to Ostagar" and it's bound to be a must-download for fans of the epic RPG. We've known for a while this was coming but we only had a vague "2010" estimate; now, according to Joystiq, the expansion will land on the Xbox 360 and PC on January 5. Unfortunately, it won't be available on the PlayStation Network until "later in January," but at least we know it's coming. For $5, we'll receive "the promise of the mighty arms and armor of the once great King Cailan," who also has a "top-secret political agenda." Origins is already a very long game - especially in this day and age - but for role-playing aficionados, it feels just about right, doesn't it? And if you've already completed it, this expansion will give you a good excuse to return to the battlefield. We probably shouldn't complain about the delay for the PS3 DLC but at the same time, we're forced to wonder...why? It would make more sense if they hadn't released the game simultaneously on multiple platforms, but they did, so...?

Well, anyway, I would expect several more hours (at least) of play time from this expansion and that should be worth the five bucks.

The Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep are the longest DLC modules available, and those last barely an hour each. If you're expecting a single Ostagar sidequest to last several hours, I think you'll end up quite disappointed.

Really loving this game, can't wait.

DLC is an issue with this game for me right now. I don't like meeting up with someone, having a chat and then finding out I have to buy DLC to do his quest.

You should buy DLC and then have the description tell you where this new stuff was added in, I shouldn't find it in my regular game. Very very intrusive.

Good game otherwise.

Aren't those the only modules avaliable? Or did I miss one.

Stone Prisoner offers more then just a side quest. You get the opportunity to add a new unique and voiced character. For a fan, this is huge for replayability.

When asked why their DLC is so short, Bioware said that a large part of the budget for the DLC goes to voice acting.

There's a lot of smaller things you get... like extra abilities, new loot, story background, character growth.. .etc.

It'll probably cost $5 anyway, which is the price of a latte, so definitely worth it if you like the game.

I finally will play some Dragon Age origins tommorow , cant wait

The moral of this story is: PC wins again.

well atleast its coming.. the dragon age DLCs are just shameless though, the none talking NPC's are just there telling you "buy the DLC and i will talk to you" its pretty funny
